Idgi, wouldnt it have been easier to train astronauts to dig holes than to train hole-diggers to be astronauts?
Shut the fuck up Ben
>>217357825the audience (blue collar hicks) would find it easier to relate to diggers than astronauts
>>217357825you need experience drilling. they had a month to learn entire rigging operation and experience every possible eventuality. conversely, the experienced drillers just needed to learn to space walk and could do it in nasa facility bootcamp very quickly. acquiring entire drilling operations, going to locations and drilling nonstop would be near impossible for the astronauts. even if they did drill for a month straight, they might not run into any issues or complications whatsoever and just basic drill operation where they learned nothing. experience is for the complications. theres no real complication in putting suit on, buckling up and letting the astronauts fly you to space. its like billionaires taking space flights into low atmosphere. no training required.
>>217357825The drilling was a more important and complex process to get right though. They talked about this and not-so-subtly implied that astronauts are overpaid and overhyped much like space itself.
>>217357825IT'S A REAL NASA PLAN
>>217357825they kinda did both things, you watched the movie, right?
>>217357825They were literally just passengers on a spaceship. Its like saying flight attendants should know how to fly a plane

>>217357825This movie is retarded but in a based way.
