Anybody remember this shit? I recently started rewatching it and it's KINO.
>>217360917Hell yea. My mom and I always watched it. Still do.
I can't rewatch it because it gets too sad. Richie was my guy and later on they fucking kill him.
>>217360917One of my favorite shows. It encapsulates the peak of cool, 90s masculinity. It takes all the coolest shit from vampire stories and makes it feel less gay. Nothing beats the vibe of these immortals wearing trenchcoats in dark moody 90s cities duking it out with practical effects explosions on every sword strike. Peak action TV.
>>217360917>Anybody remember this shit?Yeah, it explored the concept of immortals a little better than the movies did due to just having more time to play with it. Even though the stuff after it was crap and the show had to ignore the ending of the original film in order to work. But that's okay. It's better to just consider them different things anyway.>>217361163>Richie was my guy and later on they fucking kill him. It's a shame Stan Kirsch killed himself a few years ago.
>>217360917Would Highlander remake even work?
>>217361464didnt they just film one
>>217361399>Nothing beats the vibe of these immortals wearing trenchcoats in dark moody 90s citiesExcept for the part where the first couple seasons take place in San Francisco, the exact opposite of a dark and moody city. >>217361464>Would Highlander remake even work?Cavill is trying to. Whether he succeeds or fails though is an entirely different subject.
>>217360917I do, it was awesome.OST by fucking QUEEN btw.Although I probably missed some important episode and was always wondering how Richie got his immortality
>>217361501I thought they take place on a boat in France in the beginning? or is that later. I just remembered the french mime episode lmao. The city doesn't matter, it's just all the practical effects, lighting and trenchcoats shot at night.
>>217361501>Whether he succeeds or failsHe's literally only ever failed as a lead.
>>217361530Doesn't he get gunned down in the same event Tessa dies? Does how I remember it. The Macleods always knew he was immortal, even before he did, just like in the original movie.
>>217360917HEEEEEEEEEEERE WE ARE BORN TO BE KINGSWE'RE THE PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE
>>217361898>I AM IMMORTAL, I HAVE INSIDE ME BLOOD OF KINGS>I HAVE NO RIVAL, NO MAN CAN BE MY EQUAL I get it's cheesy but these lines are genuinely awesome.
>>217361579>I thought they take place on a boat in France in the beginning? No, that's the later seasons after his girlfriend gets killed.
>>217361501How could his tiny hands wield a sword?
>>217362994I dunno. He somehow allegedly did it with The Witcher netflix show. Maybe he'll have hand-doubles for fight scenes?
>>217361439Don't use these for sparring. I have one and the blade is not full-tang. It goes down about mid way through the hilt and the rest is just hollow plastic. The blades are a pretty strong grade of stainless steele though. Before the grip on mine broke the blade took a heavy beating in sparring sessions and still looks okay to this day.
>>217362994I dont get the tiny hands meme
This was kino too
>>217363209It's not a meme, it's just a fact.
It really is kino and a proper spiritual continuation of the first movie
>>217360917I really liked this show as a kid. And that motherfucking Queen soundtrack never gets oldhttps://youtu.be/UyPWpP6w8AA?si=zSL7rIzIBRUdRbDM>>217361163Yeah it just wasn't the same after that point.
>>217363238that show was garbage
>>217360917For me, it's Highlander: The Search for Vengeance
>>217363323Why not carry a gun, plug the immortals full of holes and THEN behead them when they can't move? Seems silly to go on a sword duel.
>>217360917Indeed. Even though the final seasons weren't as good, the finale still got to me (particularly the part with Richie >>217361163). It also had my favorite rendition of "Bonny Portmore" as well.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWnweO8RnNE
For me it was the weird French cartoon.
>>217363918>Why not carry a gun, plug the immortals full of holes and THEN behead them when they can't move?Ironically this almost kind of happened in Highlander: Endgame. One of the bad-guy immortals was new and still insisted on using guns because he was a former gang member or someshit and the others greatly disapproved of his conduct. I think it basically boils down to tradition and rules. Like how they will not fight on holy ground. There's nothing enforcing them from fighting on holy ground, they just all abide by it themselves.
>>217360917I remember when this show ran back to back with Renegade on USA networkI'd watch them both everyday back in the 90syep I'm that old, I was 18ishcable was the internetthat's where you picked up all the infoother than what people spoke ofand they probably saw it on cablesaying it was a different time doesn't even come close to explaining the difference. That's the most minimal thing to say. It wasn't everything different.
I watched it but remember literally nothing
>>217361014>Hell yea. My mom and I always watched it. Still do.Based.Same, it was our favorite show too. Along with X-Files.
>>217364675I still remember that episode of x files where mulder died and some indian medicine man consumed his body and vomited him out into a mold and he was resurrectedMan I miss when tv was completely apeshit
Together with Relic Hunter one of the better 90's shows.
>>217360917Too repetitive even for me, I'm okay with formulaic shows but every episode of Highlander was identical, some bad guy immortal shows up, Duncan flashes back to when he first met the immortal, the flashbacks always relate to what's happening in the present, they fight, Duncan wins. Basically every episode just remakes the original movie over and over in an episodic format
>>217364675We truly lived in kino times, my friend.
>>217364513https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItKG0oiyV4o
>>217363085>don't use mall ninja garbage like it's the real dealNo shit Sherlock
>>217364803Well, that's 90's television for ya. I does get a bit better after the first couple of seasons, though. They drop the episodic format somewhat and have story arcs that stretch over the entire season instead.
>>217363918>risk a dark quickening
>>217364716I remember watching X-Files when I was like 6 years old and how wild it was.>>217364814I still miss them.
>>217364513I actually mistyped>was everything different. all different
>>217360917Kino of the highest order>>217364803>Too repetitive even for mewhile most shows were like this, i think it makes sense in here. Imagine living all those years
>>217361163Nah man. The Richie fatigue was real. Was pretty lulzy when Duncan made him kill that retarded train loving guy. Amanda was fucking terrible as well. Methos was the only saving grace.
>>217364716Good episode, but it was actually Doggett the one who got vored and resurrected. Mulder wanted to do it at first because he was slowly dying of some brain disease but then he felt bad for the creature and tried to put it out of its misery instead.
>>217364513I remember watching that chick get naked and having sex in a couple of movies after that. What a life.
>>217364803Yeah, and they all came to his town. It was comfy tho.
>>217360917HERE WE ARE
>>217361464No. Humorless autists and MMA faggots drained all the fun out of goofy martial arts and swordfighting stuff.
>>217360917I watched a few episodes recently and I wasn't exactly impressed. Does it do that 90s TV show thing where the first bunch of episodes are just the show trying to find its footing?
>>217365680BORN TO BE KINGS
>>217363918Horton and Xavier litterally do this in a later season. Shut the fuck up you faggot.
>>217363918>t. Remember how this guy went? Brutal mogging. Swapped swords with Duncan and he couldn't hang.
>>217363238Reminder bill Clinton fucked that. Her playboy spread was pretty nice. That short blonde hair is awful though
>>217365792That scene is a great way of showing how McLeod has adapted better than other immortals to different styles of fighting.
>>217361163without Tess, it was never the same.i used to dream about her in the late 90s.still remember one of them, I was on my hands and knees while she sat on the edge of the bed, warm summer sunlight pouring in through the window behind her, and I was lapping away.
>>217361439anyone here ever gone to one of his training sessions?
>>217362432DAMN YOU, DAMN YOUR WHOLE RACE
>>217363918REMEMBER THE RULES - HIGHLANDER
>>217364000looking back, it is a bit weird that that's his immortal wife in the cartoon, even though they claim she's 500 or something.
>>217364803>didn't get why they did thathow else are they going to introduce other immortals, or show the gathering taking place?roger daltrey played a really good repeating character.
>>217365749>WE'RE THE PRINCESS OF THE UNIVERSE
>>217360917surprised japan never made an anime with that styling and story
>>217365726best of it is when he lives in Paris on a houseboat. watch those episodes, skip ahead, you won't miss anythingmuch
The oldest immortal became an anesthesiologist. He did a podcast on why. Pretty fucking cool.
>>217360917Watching it for the first time now.>>217361163That's sad. I'm going to pretend it was an accident, assume he was jacking off, and it was auto erotic asphxiation gone wrong.
>>217361464Depends. One of the greatest flaws of the 90s show was that they never came up with a new original endgame for the Gathering In the movie, you ended up with the memories and knowledge and skills of every dead immortal and your immortality power gets revoked so you can finally age and die a mortal death. They kept implying and implying they had a new payoff in the TV show and movies, but we never got it.
>>217362418Muse's survival is also another simple in concept song that gets me ramped up and hype af!
>>217361579The show had international financing with a French film company and part of the deal required the show to film half the episodes in France each season. So the show was constantly switching back and forth from the US to France and back.
>>217361733I vaguely remember episode where in the end Richie gets in 1x1 sword fight vs immortal in some warehouse, scene cuts to Duncan waiting outside and than we see lightning, Richie comes out and Duncan is relieved. So i assume Richie became immortal in some previous episode and was part of the game.
>>217363918Rules of honor. Some immortals DO cheat and use all sorts of non-sword weapons to neutralize opponents. But those immortals quickly become persona non grata, make a LOT of enemies, and paint a target on their back which leads to them getting ambushed. >>217364077They actually give some explanation about the holy ground ban on fighting in the couple season. If an immortal kills another immortal on holy ground, the subsequent quickening lightning storm basically goes out of control and can cause a mass casualty event in the form of a volcanic eruption, with it being said that the volcanic explosion in Pompeii was the result of an immortal killing another immortal on holy ground. Ironically though, the rogue Watchers by being normie humans, could easily go around killing immortals on holy ground; as they did the pacifist monk immortal that lived on holy ground who Methos replaced when they first introduced Peter Horton's rogue watcher group.
>>217366436Methos is the character, Peter wingfield is the actor. Works at cedar Sinai in la. I dont remember his story arc but did see him in a couple of episodes. Part of the tv experience is missing episodes and getting lost in the lore.
>>217360917Good show
>>217360917I am watching it right now for the first time I was watching Season 3 episode 14 yesterday1 episode every daySeason 3 is great so farRichie is my favorite character. Good actor. Good and interesting characterCant wait to see his journey as immortal and student of HighlanderRichie reminds me of Dick Grayson from Batman
>>217364513That reminds me; has the famed unaired final episode of Renegade ever fucking leaked online or gotten a DVD release? Fucking super pissed that the syndication company banned the actual finale from being aired.
>>217366690He reminded me of the blonde sidekick in hercules.
>>217366732Iolaus?Great show, ares actor was godlike
>>217360917HEEEERRREEE WEEEE AREEEEEBORN TO BE KINGSWERE THE PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE
>I AM IMMORTAL>I HAVE INSIDE ME BLOOD OF KINGS>YEEEEEEEEEEEEAH>I HAVE NO RIVAL>NO MAN CAN BE MY EQUALSuch a powerful ost
>>217366239They were going to reboot it as a cross media series, with a video game but it got cancelled. It was going to have a Japanese immortal.
>>217366488this was settled a long time ago, the winner turns into a rule 63 version of themselves
>>217366559not sure if it was always meant to be that way, but later on duncan claims he/they can sense pre-immortals.
>>217366649the pacifist monk actor died of cancer which is why they killed him off off screen.was a shame, I liked him
>>217364000this cartoon is my favorite part of the Highlander media family
I really liked Highlander Endgame (unrated on VHS). But wasn't into the show so much.My Uncle fucking loved Highlander though. In his living room, above the mantel were a collection of swords, which as a kid, I loved. His prize piece was a sword literally used on the tv series.
>>217368088that uncle's name? a young alfred pennypot
>>217368428Lol. No, it's Uncle Jim. Unc had a sweet go-cart too. 40+ yr old man with adult kids. And he's riding around his neighborhood on his cart with his samurai sword sheathed. He lived next door to my High School crush and I never told her he was my Uncle, lol.
How many years of immortality before you'd decide to try everything?
I like seeing all the cool old cars and motorcycles in the show. I've heard some are actually pretty rare but I don't know that much about them, I just think they look cool.
>>217368582describe her
>>217369361I feel like Connor reminiscing about a love over 2 centuries ago. But okay. She was tall, brunette, smart, played volleyball, laughed at all my jokes, and she was beautiful. But I was the school bad boy. I put gum in her hair, wrote all over her backpack in permanent marker, threw Hostess pies at her car. One day I made her cry when we were doing a school project and she asked, "Why don't you like me?".And to be honest, I didn't know I liked her at the time. Immortals know not to waste a single moment. It's kind of ironic. And I wasted mine.
>>217366696wtf really? There’s no final episode?
>>217360917Kalas was such a based villain.>beats up Fitz, Methos, Amanda, and even Mac himself>grumpy and cruel all the time>has his reasons, but isn't sympathetic>kills 3 people per episodeHe's like an immortal Black Manta.
>>217369788Highlander Endgame is the final of the series. It's being rebooted now. But sounds like they're just copying the original. Fuck off! At least Planet Zeist was an attempt at something original.
>>217361439Can I get Randy Jackson to sign that?
>>217365680>>217365749>>217366224I'm convinced Queen knew nobody would ever hear past the first 90 seconds of that song. It changes entirely, and it just isn't the same
>>217370722
>That episode with the tard immortal
>>217370646>Highlander Endgame is the final of the seriesNo, The Source is. And it was fucking terrible.>It's being rebooted now.No, just the original film is being remade.
Why was Highlander 2 so fucking trash?
One of the most interesting things about the Highlander universe is the rules. Those rules being that fights must be one-on-one no Immortals May not fight on Holy Ground, etc. What rules would you expand on or add?
It's crazy how terrible most of the Highlander media is and yet people still want more, really goes to show how strong the initial concept is.
>>217365223The fuck is a dark quickening
>>217367475All of them can. That's how Ramirez and the Kurgan know about Macleod in the original Highlander.
>>217371044Is he the one? You can take his quickening but you might become retarded.
>>217360917I remember it. Watched it here and there. My friend's mom really liked it and she was thirsty as fuck for Adrian Paul.
>>217360917I remember watching it as a kid and then I was disappointed watching the movies because Lambert is such a weirdo.
>>217366559>>217361733>Doesn't he get gunned down in the same event Tessa dies?Yep, the mugger shoots him and triggers his immortality.
>>217361399You sound rather closeted.
