>>217363649>the flashback of him all alone letting baby H.W. tug at and play with his mustache hairs>going out of his way to elevate Mary and stop her father from hitting her>ABANDONS HIS CHILD, ABANDONS HIS BOY but only because his deafness made their relationship completely untenable and the kid almost burnt him and his, unbeknownst to him, imposter brother alive in their sleep>even then he doesn't outright abandon him he sends him to a special deaf school and is super insistent on and demands to know about his living situation and eventually takes him backHe had good in him and many in the same film were worse. It's the brainlet take to suggest he's just completely evil and wholly irredeemable.

>>217363649The character is an atheistic capitalist, though, which is basically the very definition of what it is to be a good person, OP. It is also a credit to the character's, well, character, that he was sincerely contemptuous of all religion.>>217364778Doe is indeed the villain, but Mills isn't really a good guy. The central fact about the character Mills is that he's a dumb guy.Doe's rationale becomes much more sloppy as the movie goes on, which can be explained both by plot reasons (he makes a last-minute adjustment) and also by the fact that the character really is just crazy, as the cops point out. Gluttony and Greed are justly turned against the guilty, Sloth not so much (even if you're thinking about some sort of spiritual sloth, which I don't buy). Victor's physical sloth was IMPOSED upon him. Lust makes no sense. The JOHN should have been killed, not the prostitute. It's the JOHN who is lustful first and foremost. Prostitutes do what they do for money, and possibly a certain thrill, but female sexuality and particularly lust are a distant second to that of the man. Pride is a slight return to form (the model is in fact prideful over her appearance, but then the finale goes sideways.Even though everyone is a sinner, Mills' wife dindu nuffin as far as we know, so Doe just purely victimizes her (and the unborn baby, adding a kill) to make his thing work and get at Mills. Mills is the one who is GUILTY of wrath, and his punishment is that unlike the others, he gets to LIVE with what he did, and what was done to him.
>>217365844i like your idea of killing the john but i disagree with the rest anon... living w/what you did goes against john's motives, it's even well presumed the sloth guy (who had it coming and the movie even tells you this "you got what you deserved") dies too, which is why i asked if he was really a loser
This movie is for fart sniffer enthusiasts who even enjoy their own gas discharge
