>authorize your likeness to be used in AI
>your likeness gets used in authorized works
>your likeness also gets used in unauthorized works because how could you possibly stop them

He played himself.

I agree with this. Back in the day, a long time ago now, I argued with my dad that I own my own data because I created it, and he basically that I was wrong without actually arguing that my logic was bad. Myst have sucked to have to teach me about such a gay world

>Somewhere out there a nose cries out in rage, discovering that his secret AI Matthew McConaughey project is dead in the water

He's literally trying to trademark "His iconic catchphrase from Dazed and Confused". He wants to own saying "Alright" 3 times lol
>>

He didn't.
He don't give a fuck about pajeets using it in twitter
He gives a fuck about a movie or short or ad or anything that will generate revenue using it.
There's no law for it, but I could see it.
Like, if you use an actor's face, and post it on social medias that monetize the content, for every 100k views you gotta pax X% amount to the actor's rights instead of pocketing everything yourself.
I could see something like that being fair and realistic

He's ready for AI to make the bids

I really hope him and Beto run for governor. That primary debate will be a real meeting of the minds.

Honestly not as bad as some of the worst in the Halloween and Hellraiser franchises

im not american but is his accent unique to only him? hes also not that good looking either, all he has going for him is his accent and "southern cowboy charm" which isnt unique in the slightest, i get why hes doing it but i dont see him in lots of commercials and i dont see him being used for a chatbot or anything because the people who like him are millennials that will be dead in a few decades

Reminds me about TiVo and contracts in Tropic Thunder.

Doesn't that already exists? Like when the actor playing Mcfly's father sued the studio for using a mask on a new actor that looks like him (or something like that)?
>>
WWE already owns trademarks over names of real people. John Cena's name is his real birth name, and he signed the right to his name to WWE. Any time he's in a movie or there's anything with his name involved in it, they get a cut. that shit is fucking crazy if you ask me. owning your own name and image trademarks makes sense though. What happens after his death though?

>What happens after his death though?
Go to his estate, I guess.

Good. Death to AI shit

Do you think we will see dead actors bring to live by AI?

I remember there were rumors of a James Deen movies years ago.

copyright isn't something you do, it's something you have, it's the right to copy your work, it isn't a verb

Will this prevent law enforcement from photographing him in any way? Would they have to pay him to take his mug shot? What if he drives through a red light and they send him the cam pic showing his face behind the wheel, can he sue for not getting his authorization to take the pic?
>>
>>217367060
Can't fault a guy for wanting to get out in front of the tsunami of AI slop we'll have to endure for the next decade or so.

>>217369867
No. I don't think you understand what having a copyright does. I mean, I don't really, either. Is a trademark a copyright? A form of it, of multiple types? All imI know is that people I hate benefit massively from these laws while I make far less money performing menial tasks.
>>
Am I correct in the understanding that I can mail myself something and have it copyrighted by the post date? Could I mail myself a list of futuristic ideas spammed by an ai and just sue oeople for a living? Could I mail myself lists of jingles and melodies and shut down the music industry? Why are people able to own rights to phrases and songs but I cant do this?
>>
There has to be legal precedent for this. The Crispin Glover BTTF2 lawsuit laid a groundwork for punishing the use of an actor's likeness without their explicit permission.
>>
>>217370185
Trademark is just a company or person stamping a product they make with their symbol, their brand. Makes it easy to know it came from them. If you put their symbol on your own product you're effectively trying to profit using their brand recognition, which allows them to sue the shit out of you for stealing their trademark. A copyright recognizes that something someone or a company made is theirs, they created it and should be the sole producer and ones to profit off it. If you recreate the product or sell a knockoff they can again sue the shit out of you. If you're complaining either exist its simply because you can't come up with a good idea to sell nor a symbol people will recognize it with

Companies have copyrights on literal letters bro, call it reducto ad absurdim or whatever but you're not gonna succesfully shift any feeling of blame to me for not thinking to claims one of the 26 letters billions of people use, for instance.
