This could be a good story but they are fucking it up. Captain Ake should be a raging alcoholic fuck up captain. Just guilt ridden because of what happen with the kid and the mom. The Academy ship should be like Star Fleet sending her to the lowest level ship as a final chance to redeem herself. As she helps this kid find his mother and bond with him, it should also give her more confidence and get her back to being a good captain slowly. I don't understand why she isn't written like this and instead is just a crazy wine aunt Captain that doesn't play by the rules. This is stupid.
