No one told me Charlie Kaufman made a fucking kids movie.
Ending was kinda shit and rushed.
Would have loved to see the payoff of the kid going on a date with the girl at the planetarium instead of keeping the movie going for no reason other than LE META STORY WITHIN A STORY

Also thought it was weird how he grew up to work at said planetarium. Couldn't stop thinking about the janitor from I'm Thinking of Ending Things

The script was rewritten several times by goons at the studio that don't even get actually credited for doing "minor" writing jobs. It's a clearly botched movie, just unfocused and generic despite Kaufman being attached.
I do wonder how the original script he wrote went tho.

oh really? I didn’t know that. I think the unfiltered Kaufman version would have been more incomprehensible, which isn’t really fitting for a children’s movie even if it would have made it less generic
