How did Chase write a Gen Z character so perfectly, even before the fact?

>The blank stare, cry for help and attention, slight mental illness, vapidity, lack of drive
>>
>>217372896
>vapidity
AJ is repeatedly genuinely profound even though he's a pathetic pussy and it's arguably just him coping
>>
>>217372896
You do know that AJ is a millennial, right?
>>
>>217372896
if your asking how did someone write this characters in the context of the real sociopolitical climate the answer is they read books about the recent present, philosophy, history, and psychology
>>
>>217373140
>genuinely profound
Anon, you couldn’t have missed the mark harder if you tried kek. AJ was 100% a faux-deep philosophyfag larper who had no idea what he was talking about and just using his inane prattling to excuse his embarrassing teenage angst and melancholy.every single time he tried to talk philosophical shit even with meathead jocks he was consistently BTFO and made to look like the ignorant pansy he is. Maybe when you’re older you’re see it more clearly, AJ was not genuinely profound lmao he was deliberately written to be what a young teenager thinks passes for profound when in reality it’s just bitching and moaning and trying to sound smart while doing so.
>>
>>217373164

Obviously haha, but the character itself just reminds me of Zoomers in general. More of a rhetorical question on my part - and comment - on how a character written like 20+ years ago captures something most writers translating Gen Z to screen can't seem to do.
>>
AJ is the quintessential millennial male, he even tried to kill himself and grew up playing N64. Very millennial traits.
>>
>>217372896
>late teens male with a lack of sense of belonging
>GEN Z GEN Z GEN Z
or....its a common thing that happens in many men at that age
>>
>>217373311
More like reality is blatant and obvious and you could ask 6 year olds to write the laws of the land and you would achieve a more fair and perfect society than any in history, it’s just that subversion and propaganda and “””economics””” and bad actors make you think that society is more complicated and impossible to figure out than it actually is
>>
>>217372896
I think his character was supposed to hgave a bigger role/purpose but his weigh loss along with meadow..and maybe Chase realizing as he got older hes a complete fucking retard got us the AJ we saw.
>>
>>217373426
What does any of this schizoid psychobabble have to do with what I said about AJ not actually being deep or profound
>>
>>217373389
No, it actually captures millennials perfectly, right down to the spoiled entitlement handed to them from boomers.
>>
>>217373431
aj is the most misunderstood character in the show. Every single one of you dumb fucks just reveal your own ignorance.
>>
>>217373506
Because he’s a brainlet but you don’t require profundity to speak the truth
>>
>>217372896
It didn't. AJ still has a living/animated quality to him. A gen z character would be more robotic or AI generated.
>>
>>217373543
>refuses to elaborate
>”just trust me it’s ME who really gets it”
>hurls a few insults and calls it a day
/tv/: the post
>>
>>217372896
AJ is the only character on the show who’s not a complete piece of shit, anybody who hates AJ is a filtered brainlett with tiny nuts and no bitches.
>>
>>217373586
You still haven’t explained what that has to do with a six year old creating a better society than blah blah and economics and bad actors and whatever the fuck you were trying to say with that complete nonsense post. I don’t know how you could possibly go back and reread that and come to the conclusion that it makes any sense in relation to the post you were replying to, you seriously type like you’re thwacked the fuck out on uppers or something
>>
AJ is pretty easy to understand as a character. He grew up with his material needs taken care of, but no sense of direction because his parents and older family members are emotionally distant psychopaths, whose entire idea of raising him consisted of giving him presents, or randomly exploding on him (or each other).

I don't understand people who hate AJ at all. AJ is hilarious. He's not fundamentally bad, he's just deeply stupid and confused. He's also the exact son that Tony deserved.
>>
OP, you are NOT to be playing Mayrio Kart right now
>>
>>217372896
These pathetic Millennial-driven attempts to turn Zoomers into some sort of boogeyman generation becomes only more bizarre in light of the fact that most Millennials are literal manchildren LARPing as in-the-know and above it all, when it's beyond obvious that they are a generation of slavish failures.
>>
>>217373587
this
he has *a* personality, granted it's a pathetic one
>>
>>217373789
AJ never has control of his own life
Remember when Tony wanted him to go to military school and it was this huge blow out in S3?
The second AJ is jogging and training to go to the Army, Tony suddenly is against it. Because he can't stand the idea of his son having a mind of his own so he bribes him with a car and a do nothing job.
>>
>>217373832
Everyone is a manchild. Everyone in the world basically just wants to be a kid again, and resents having adulthood thrust upon them. You'll realize it when your parents are old enough to stop giving a shit, and they drop the act.
Incidentally, Tony's generation in the show are also manchildren. It's a whole theme.
>>
>>217373789
It actually sucks because AJ starts running some impressive schemes at his waggie job, and his parents just respond negatively to it.
The dynamic with millennial and boomers is so fucking accurate. It's crazy for someone outside to spot it

How did Chase write a millennial character so perfectly, even before the fact?

>The homosexual tendency, going to gay clubs frequently, obviously mentally-ill, fat (pride), drive for asses and penises
