The final nail was them praising Andor. It doesn't matter where you fall on Andor being good/bad. What matters is that it's a complete retreat from the positions Plinkett had all those years ago. Agree or disagree with the Prequel reviews, but they absolutely try to pigeonhole Star Wars into a genre rather than a setting. Praising Andor is an admission it might work better as a setting than as a genre, which now throws the Prequel reviews into question because, shit, Andor revolved around politics. Does that mean politics actually do belong in Star Wars and the flaws were only in the execution? Maybe Star Wars doesn't have to 'tell a simple story'. They shouldn't have blinked. They should have stuck to their guns and shat on Andor. Now, you can't take them seriously anymore because the thing that made them who they are has been walked back.

It doesn't make the prequels good, but you can't ignore the sequels were tailor made specifically for the prequel hater audience and are worse than the prequels because they sought to spite the prequels.

Most of Mike's opinions on Star Wars can be securely ascribed to his personal bitterness toward and envy of George Lucas. That's why we find so many instances of "It's okay when someone other than George Lucas does it" in his arguments.
