Why did the pulp adventure genre die out?

no more revenue at the bo

because there is no sense of adventure anymore. only dwelling without purpose

Maybe part of that is due to films like the Mummy (1999) no longer being made

They need to be entertaining and silly while also keeping some internal seriousness. It’s a lost art to write this without whedon shit torpedoing it, and whenever you show it to a focus group some complete cunt will handwring about it being cringe.
It doesn’t help that the amount of actually charismatic actors and attractive actresses has nosedived, and they’re usually key to the appeal.
>>
>>217379987
the mobile telephone killed any sense of adventure and self-reliancy. just call for help.

Fucking bathos, man.

Cell phones existed in 1999

Movies now are only made to appeal to the brown masses and women. Those kind of "people" don't have a sense of adventure and are unappealing to them.

No, child, they did not, these are your delusions speaking.
Enjoy prison.

Movies are unfulfilled fantasies. If a society stops having adventures, then adventure movies would get popular as a form of escapism.
The reality is that in pulp you need to strictly follow the hero's journey. A hero implies good morals. Hollywood is completely immoral nowadays, it believes in relativism and satanic practices, thus they can't do the hero's journey anymore.

They got flanderized into stupid dogshit comedies like those two Jumanji sequels, Minecraft, the Anaconda reboot, etc. The Mummy, and for better or worse its dumb sequel, were still earnest attempts at making action adventures. Gen X and millennial insincerity killed storytelling. Everything has to be followed up with a joke or snarky comment because it can't be allowed to just play straight.

Zoomies are allergic to masculinity
>>
>>217379894
Every major company decided to use the internet as a metric to rate their products. Not realizing that, while the internet is a great source of massive amounts of information, 99% is auto generated garbage and fake updoots. They believe if their trailer gets 10 million likes they equates to 10 million people wanting to see the movie. Most of the time likes are farmed and purchased. Even if someone genuinely “likes” a post, it’s a mindless autonomic response to stimulus. Yet all these company’s still bow to internet traffic for some reason. Social media has created the largest false sense of reality ever known.
>>
>>217379894
Because encouraging young boys to seize adventure and get the girl is toxic masculinity. Its why they cast limp wrist tom holland to be buff nathan drake
>>
>>217379894
It appealed to heterosexual men of Western backgrounds. So it must die.

Artists grew up seeing pulp stories being bashed non stop for various reasons, while "literary" stories got glazed more than ever.

They want to be seen as deep and get accolades, thus they became allergic to traditional adventures.

Meanwhile, nostalgia culture and the rise of media conglomerates leads to the industry to focus on legacy franchises and milking them to death.

See the Buzz Lightyear movie. They were given Buck Rogers and made Interstellar out of it for some fucking reason.
>>
it was never alive in the first place, it was only this movie
>>
>>217379894
They don't make movies the same way anymore. Even if they try to make an adventure, it's just a dumb CGI mess like the Avatar franchise or MCU.

Adventures like The Mummy or Indiana Jones were built on the back of real stunts done on real sets and locations. It has to look and feel completely tactile, otherwise it's lifeless slop. There's no sense of wonder to a giant green screen room, and no actor is skilled enough to convince you that there is. You need a giant ancient tomb set for your characters to walk into and be in awe of. You need a real train and horses for your chase scene. Anything less and the core sense of adventure is undermined.

People couldn't separate pulp adventure from cheesy schlock
Then pic related happened and killed the genre

This. Love me some stunt gimps.

In rambo, Sylvester stallone actually fell down on trees and broke his ribs.
That should be all actors.
>>
>>217381355
The Lone Ranger reboot with Depp was another bomb in the genre

They're supposedly making a new Mummy movie and they're going to kill the couple in some way, as per usual with these types of revival efforts.

Because pulp adventure is too hecking problematic for modern Hollywood since it glorifies colonialism.
