The show had its flaws, but I believe pic rel might be my favourite season in TV history. There's something about the change in tone and pacing, the addition of characters such as Rawlings and Antwon, the more political involved themes... I think it's the more rich and rewatchable of the bunch, sure the one with Forest Whitaker as Kavanaugh is also legendary, but I find that one to be more intense and fun rather than the strikingly bleak this season is. Remember when at the end of the first season they killed a bunch of cops, I couldn't care at all, but this time when Carl and Scooby get killed, it really hurts you. Maybe the weakest aspect of the whole arc is Aceveda banging that scort, but even that had a very mature and realistic conclusion to his trauma, I've seen a couple people changing like that.
I've never seen it myself, but the writer for the game Disco Elysium said it was a big inspiration for how he wanted cops portrayed in his setting.
