How does /tv/ honestly feel about this film on an artistic level? What is its main message? A lot of the commentary at the time claimed it was reactionary propaganda against OWS but I think it was clearly shown that Gotham's grievances against the ultra wealthy were justified. It seemed more a commentary on how easily social reform movements with legitimate grievances can be hijacked by "a gang of psychopaths" and how that can lead to the ultimate self-destruction of society, not suggesting any attempt to change the status quo at all leads to BANE?.
>>217382150At least you can talk. Who are you?
>>217382276It doesn't matter who I am, what matters is my thread.
>>217382150It's a big message.
It's fucking dog shit.
>>217382358someone get this hot head outta here
>>217382150all nolan batman movies are shitonly respectable jolan movies are memento and interatellar rest are shitthe dialogue is the main problem followed by writing
>>217382150>With the newly signed Dent Act, the city of Gotham hereby declares crime to be illegal! Never made sense to me.
>>217382358UUUU
>>217382392Actually
>>217382150I really like the cinematography. Shots of Gotham/Pittsburgh look great.
>>217382150>main messageI don't think Nolan had a clear message in his mind making the movie. Batman isn'r really a vehicle for political or social discussion. The media, the comic magazine, does not lend itself to any depth, unless you go the Alan Moore route and write a "novel". Fitting a social commentary in 40 pages of comic is not meant to be, and trying to cram political concepts into those pages can only result in an alltoo polarising take.
>>217382150It's so funny how clearly checked out Nolan was while making this.
>>217383023I agree, and that's also the strength of TDK. Nolan really made the scyscrapers of Chicago look magical.
>>217382150>A lot of the commentary at the time claimed it was reactionary propaganda against OWSpretty sure the majority of TDKR was filming or in postproduction when Occupy Wall Street went on. Nolan was no Kubrick who would rewrite the script or rethink his shots. I'm sure Nolan shot the film according to the screenplay.>It seemed more a commentary on how easily social reform movements with legitimate grievancescan be hijacked by "a gang of psychopaths" and how that can lead to the ultimate self-destruction of society, not suggesting any attempt to change the status quo at all leads toit also seemed like a commentary on how new techincal energy systems can cause real danger to us humans, I'm sure Nolan had the Fukushima disaster fresh in mind and I know he's against nuclear energy so he wanted to brainwash us into thinking nuclear energy is bad
do zoomers know about occupy wall street?
It’s an absolutely terrible film.
>>217382150It was an attempt at trying to do two stries from the comics, Knightfall (partially) and Cataclysm (partially) and both failedIt's not even a bad movie but Bane's intelligence was never actually stable. At times he appeared to be a master tactician and in other times he was a drooling retardThere were only extremesThe whole 'cops are trapped. Bane runs the city' was pretty retarded and was far from the actual hellscape it was meant to be. It was basically a 'hey now that street is a bit dangerous so avoid it'The role of Blake was utterly fucking retarded and ironically would have probably been better given to SelinaSelina's character was pointless outside of the ass shot on the bat-bikeThere's alot wrong with ittl:dr: movie thries to be three moves in one, Bane's takeover, Bruce's redemption, cop movie and fails at all three
Am I the only one who thinks TDKR is a superb movie on a sentimental level? The Alfred/Batman bro-story is touching and the ending always makes me shed a tear or two.
>>217382150It was goofy
i cant even give a real opinion on it because the whole thing is silly
>>217384696I never bought that Alfred would just quit on Bruce.
>>217384888I never bought that /tv/ would just quit on my thread.
>>217382150The movie is goofy and stupid and not good so therefore I didn't care about whatever artistic message it supposedly had.
You can tell that Ledger's death fucked over Nolan royally. Nolan's heart wasn't in this and it shows. It's a bad movie with a couple of decent moments.
>>217386295fuck that cunt for dying so soon, he carried the dark knight single handedly
>>217386198>this scene>her death scene in InceptionDid Nolan hated Marion Cotillard or something, why make her death scenes so funny instead of dramatic.
>>217382150I like the tone, and a few of the set pieces, but that’s about it. I don’t know what the hell happened to the script to this movie. it genuinely feels like they were writing it on the day
>>217384696Nah it’s overdone. Michael Caine menstruating all over the place is not what I want from my Alfred.
>>217384696It makes no sense that Alfred would leave Bruce
>>217382150I quite enjoyed it.But for me the big fail is not showing visually the passage of time in Gotham - the police in the sewers surving, rubbish in the streets etc, it could have felt much more real than it actually did. Society had not 'fallen apart' enough - for me that was Nolan's big fail here. And Bane got done dirty in the end. But I really enjoyed the start - it certainly felt like Bruce had checked out.
>>217382150Wtf are you saying? Also, needs a Batman prequel show where instead of Batman fighting crime in Gotham, it's Bruce Wayne traveling the globe, learning and training without his billions of dollars. It was shown in Batman Begins, but I am taking about a t.v. series of his globetrotting adventures. The t.v. show can also have a subplot that takes place in Gotham where Rachel Dawes and Alfred think Bruce Wayne is dead and Gotham just keeps getting more insane and bleak as the years go by. Also, certain criminal individuals committing gruesome murders and crime, the same types of people who would later go on to become the villains of Batman's Rogues gallery.
>>217384696michael caine carries the movie
>>217382150>How does /tv/ honestly feel about this film on an artistic level?kino
>>217382150>What is its main message?Left wing populist movements only aim is chaos and destruction. Their causes are cynical and unjustified. Our youth is our future yada yada. Kid who came from nothing is the next one because he was inspired by Bruce.
>>217382150So many loose ends that weren't finishedHack job
>>217382150In a World where superhero movies were for children or Kitsch, Dark Knight succeeded in making them into serious cinema that could be interesting on its own merits and do something good with the characters.
