George R.R. Martin says his relationship with ‘House of the Dragon’ showrunner Ryan Condal is ‘abysmal’

“It’s worse than rocky. It’s abysmal. I hired Ryan. I thought Ryan and I were partners. And we were all through the first season. I would read early drafts of the scripts. I would give notes. He would change some things. It was working really well — I thought”

“Then we got into season two, and he basically stopped listening to me. I would give notes, and nothing would happen. Sometimes he would explain why he wasn’t doing it. Other times, he would tell me, ‘Oh, OK, yeah, I’ll think about that.’ It got worse and worse, and I began to get more and more annoyed. Finally, it got to a point where I was told by HBO that I should submit all my notes to them and they would give Ryan our combined notes”

GRRM later did a call with HBO and Condal where the plan for S3 was discussed, and he allegedly said, ‘This is not my story any longer’

HBO then asked GRRM to step back from HOTD after the call, and a few months later he was brought back aboard the project — ‘I can’t talk about it’

I was wondering why the quality of this show fell off a fucking cliff after season 1.

Zero sympathy for this lazy fat fuck. Let him watch everyone rape his IP until he commits to finishing ASOIAF.

George R.R. Martin was asked about 'The Winds of Winter'

• He has ~1,100 pages finished

• Will never give up writing it — 'I would hate that. It would feel like a total failure to me. I want to finish'

• There are no plans for a writer to take over if he dies — it would remain unfinished

• It could become the longest book in the series if he includes everything he wants

• Often rewrites chapters, and sometimes scraps material he loves because it would change the book

• He's also juggling work on two new 'Dunk and Egg' stories and 'Fire & Blood 2'

"I do think if I can just get some of these other things off my back, I could finish 'The Winds of Winter' pretty soon. It’s been made clear to me that Winds is the priority, but … I don’t know. Sometimes I’m not in the mood for that ... I'm so far behind on everything"

so he approved of stuff like the terrorist attack on the coronation and completely changing Alicent and Rhaenyras characters then?

He's gonna croak before he finishes it.

Its a pity there hasn't been a global pandemic induced shutdown where there was fuck all to do for about 12 months in the last decade. Also willing to bet about half those already written pages are the ones he cut from Dance.
