The “Uncle, sit down” line is so bizarrely out of place. The idea that (show) Edmure would out of the blue stand up and even do this is odd.
My only guess is that this scene exists solely because Gurm told DnD that Edmure will sit the iron throne in the books.
Why him? We know he’s one of the few Lords who actually cares about the smallfolk. The Tullys have centuries of history being the rulers of the Riverlands, despite many minor houses there actually being stronger and wealthier. Does this mirror the weak house of Tully managing the other houses, and all of the Seven Kingdoms?
And let us not forget that the Riverlands isn’t one of the Seven Kingdoms, yet is constantly the one being ravaged by wars.
Dare I say it? It’s his fucking turn.
