virgin "i dun wan it" vs chad "it is what it is, guess I'll do it"
>>
These two characters have totally different characterisations in the books, why didn’t they remain faithful to it? In the books it is the virgin Aragorn “I am entitled to it” vs the chad Jon “I want it and will scheme for it”
>>
Book Aragorn wasn’t even that reluctant. He knew he was king and it was just a matter of time.

one has sword called flame of the west, one is supposed to have a flaming sword.... what did grrm mean by this?

The trajectory of a more reluctant Aragon is what the story felt like it was always building towards for Jon; a guy that serves towards the protection of the realm, doesn't want anything greater but serves as king because that is his duty, not what he wants. We should have gotten a reluctant Jon on the throne, sacrificing everything he wanted and the woman he loved and serving as king because his duty demands it. Instead his lineage is completely meaningless and he's permitted to run away to live in exile.
I'm still fucking mad desu.

What were you expecting of the series that's famous for being a subversion of the tropes it tackles? Jon's lineage being meaningless is quite literally the subversion of what should have happened

Subverting expectations is a hack's methodology.

Even if the last two books were ever coming Martin recently said that he thought the show's ending was too much of a happy ending so chances are he'll just go full grimdark and kill off everyone. I guess there's a possibility that's more satisfying than the slop D&D gave us but it's all moot since the fat fuck will never, ever finish the next book let alone the last one.

Indeed, and asoiaf is a hack's work. That everyone deluded themselves into thinking it was anything else is 100% on them, mindlessly applauding the murder of the main character twice shows that the people reading and watching this drivel did not want a good story, they just wanted edgy shit that made fantasy look mature

>serves as king because that is his duty, not what he wants
Just as Platon intended
too bad that never happens in reality
>>
>>217385023
Oh god it’s the “muh subversion” fag again. Thank god people are rejecting that subversive bullshit more and more because it means less dickheads like you.
>>
>>217384844
>he's permitted
I mean, he was forced. Granted, he was forced to do what he wanted to do all along, but he wasn't really given a say in it.

Are you unable to read, anon? Of everything I said, what makes you think I'm okay with subversive bullshit? I'm literally putting the blame of getting subverted by a subversive piece of shit on the people that were too stupid to not notice they were reading a subversive work and got mad when it, you guessed it, ended in a subversive way
