These two characters have totally different characterisations in the books, why didn’t they remain faithful to it? In the books it is the virgin Aragorn “I am entitled to it” vs the chad Jon “I want it and will scheme for it”
Book Aragorn wasn’t even that reluctant. He knew he was king and it was just a matter of time.

>>217383865The trajectory of a more reluctant Aragon is what the story felt like it was always building towards for Jon; a guy that serves towards the protection of the realm, doesn't want anything greater but serves as king because that is his duty, not what he wants. We should have gotten a reluctant Jon on the throne, sacrificing everything he wanted and the woman he loved and serving as king because his duty demands it. Instead his lineage is completely meaningless and he's permitted to run away to live in exile.I'm still fucking mad desu.
