After the success of airplane and police squad Nielsen did some really bad movies in the same style like 2001 a space travesty and Wrongfully Accused. He was just not a naturally funny guy but could do deadpan funny lines written by funny people.

I enjoyed it and showed my kids, they liked it a lot but obviously some of the jokes went over their heads.
Biggest laughs I saw out of my 11 and 9 year olds:

>initial bank robbery where he bites the gun and bowls a bunch of henchmen down with another guy

I skipped the infrared and snowman 3 way scenes because im not going to make them awkwardly watch sex scenes with their parent like MY mom did with me .

A lot of bad directors (even with the later Naked Gun movies) didn't realize it's not about him making silly faces or mugging for the camera, it was his ability to deliver ridiculous dialogue with a straight face. Frank Drebin is still a hard boiled detective, just one who lives in a weird world.
