this is going to be an unpopular take but the music was the weakest part of the show, on subsequent rewatches I always fast forward through them besides that inner city pressure song

>>217393267A funny thing about the music. In 2004, there was a television show in Australia called 'Stand Up!'. And I watched it. It was just stand up comedy sets. And Flight of the Conchords were the house band. They played a song at the end of every episode. And I really liked them. Can't remember hearing much about them for a few years. Then their American TV show came out. And I remembered them and was excited to see it. Watched it, liked it. But, every song they played back in 2004 was reused in the show. Even the mediocre ones. And I thought it odd. Like, in five+ years as a band. Touring and doings shows. Had they only written like one album's worth of songs? And watching the HBO show. Sometimes they had to really awkwardly set up a specific premise, just for a certain song to relevantly fit. And it stuck out to me because I already knew the songs. And I remember thinking they're working backwards, why not just write the show plots and then write new songs to fit?
