Its been over 10 years since the Star Wars sequels and STILL people haven't begun to "defend it like the prequels"Whats your excuse?

>>217393105Because the two situations aren’t comparable. The prequels had a single creator, a unified plan, and a clear beginning-middle-end. People mocked the execution, but the underlying story was coherent and ambitious. Over time fans rediscovered the ideas beneath the awkward dialogue. The sequels never had that foundation. The prequels expanded Star Wars: new planets, politics, lore, aesthetics, Clone Wars, Jedi culture, Sith history. They gave the universe more to chew on. The sequels shrank it. Desert planet again, Rebels vs Empire again, Death Star again, Palpatine again. Instead of moving the saga forward, they reset it to replay the original trilogy.Kids grew up with the prequels. They had toys, games, Clone Wars, and years of expanded material. That generation naturally re-evaluated them as adults. There is no equivalent “sequel generation.” Disney itself barely markets sequel-era content now, which says everything. The prequels were honest but clumsy art. Lucas took big swings and missed sometimes, but it was sincere. The sequels feel like committee-driven brand management: three movies pulling in opposite directions with no roadmap. You can forgive flawed sincerity; you can’t get nostalgic for incoherent corporate product. Most important: time can rehabilitate a flawed vision. It can’t rehabilitate a trilogy that never had one.
>>217393105It took 18 years for people to defend the prequels.
>>217393262No it didn't. There've been prequel defenders since TCW was still airing.
>>217393105
They were sterile and soulless products shitted out by Disney The prequels were all done by Lucas so people actually had more fun debating on whether he was still a good filmmaker and they didn't understand what he was going for
Any honest discussion about this has to acknowledge two things:1. There was a massive Disney campaign to rehabilitate the prequels after they bought the rights.2. The sequels are not really hated outside the alt-right bubble.
>>217393370>alt-right bubble
>Any honest discussion about this has to acknowledge two things:>1. There was a massive Disney campaign to rehabilitate the prequels after they bought the rights.>2. The sequels are not really hated outside the alt-right bubble.

>>217393105Every day I hope for the fat camp equivalent of shit wars watchers.
>>217393370>1. There was a massive Disney campaign to rehabilitate the prequels after they bought the rights.Fuck off tranny. They were still running hit pieces in them while they were releasing the sequels.
>>217393171correct, Star Wars trilogies are supposed to be franchises, not simply three movies
>>217393171So fucking sick of this defense. The prequels are an inconsistent incoherent rambling hodgepodge of bullshit, MUCH more so than the sequels. The ONLY reason they have any sort of "plan" is by the mere fact of them being prequels.
>>217393105There used to be plenty of people defending TFA but that movie's probably aged the worst of them all by now. I think after tros enough people finally realized JJ is the conman Lostfags said he was.
>>217393488>MUCH more so than the sequels
>The prequels are an inconsistent incoherent rambling hodgepodge of bullshit, MUCH more so than the sequels
>>217393494They were only defending it out of a sense of identity politics though. They didn't give a shit about the story itself. Now there's new current political thing so the majority of its defenders moved on. Very very few people actually liked the movie or the story it wanted to tell.
>>217393370Both of your claims are backwards.>1.“Disney ran a campaign to rehabilitate the prequels.”False. The prequel re-evaluation started before Disney bought Lucasfilm. Clone Wars (2008–2013) was Lucas-era, and kids who grew up on the prequels became adults naturally. Early Disney marketing actually distanced itself from the prequels: TFA was sold as “back to practical effects, back to the OT.” If Disney had wanted to rehab them, they wouldn’t have spent years pretending they barely existed.>2.“The sequels aren’t hated outside the alt-right bubble.”Reality says otherwise. TLJ split the audience in half, Solo bombed, Rise of Skywalker had poor word of mouth, toy sales dropped, Galaxy’s Edge underperformed, and Disney cancelled years of planned films while pivoting almost entirely to TV. Those are mainstream consumer signals, not fringe politics. If normal audiences loved the sequels, Disney wouldn’t have abandoned the era for a decade. The image you posted is cope. Calling all criticism “alt-right” is just a way to avoid the obvious: the sequels failed to leave a cultural footprint. Ask any random person to name sequel characters and most shrug. Ask about the prequels and they remember Anakin, Obi-Wan, Maul, Clone Wars, etc.One era created lasting mythology. The other created apathy.
>>217393262>Just 8 more years!
bruh wtf is up with that nose?
>>217393370>There was a massive Disney campaign to rehabilitate the prequels after they bought the rights. When exactly did this campaign start? Certainly not while the films were airing, TFA did everything in its power to please OTrannies who bitched and moaned about Lucas and the prequels while the other two movies propped up the reddit narrative that the jedi order was le bad.
>>217393494I was thinking of rewatching this one, but your image has changed my mind. Seeing those shitty characters together reminded me of what it was like.
>>217393660The prequels had more of a turn around after getting memed hard in the mid 2010s and a lot of people dipping back into legends stuff after Disney dumped it all. The prequels newfound appreciation from fans happened pretty organically
>>217393657You know exactly what that nose is about.
>>217393615After the prequels, the mainstream audience would not have watched a Star Wars movie if Lucas were involved. However Disney was making prequel content even before TFA came out, and Rogue One was also full of prequel references.>>217393697Who do you think started those memes?

>>217393370False
>>217394092Not only did they kill them but they ripped their happy ending away and then killed each character when they were at their lowest moment in life. They didn't just fuck up, this was a malicious attempt to tear down the old heroes.
>>217393494Not one of these characters ever develops ANY fucking depth whatsoever. Their motivation is "I FUCKING HATE THE FIRST ORDER" for no reason.
>>217394135This. The sequels were fucking dripping with malice for no reason at all, it was genuinely bizarre to experience. Like the kind of sequel movies you would make if you fucking despised the OT and everything they stood for.

The sequels don't need defending, they were huge hits.Meanwhile, the prequels crashed the franchise so hard that Lucas had to sell it lmao
>tfw no story about the last of the real Sith >last surviving member of the Sith "Pureblood" species >blood so diluted, skin is pink and passes as a Zeltron >do street jobs to survive, eventually getting wrapped up in crime >forced to use sith alchemy and magic to survive an ambush >Jedi and Baneite Sith catch wind >evades both for as long as he can before he can't anymore >crime family turns on him,so he has to slaughter them all >the fucking jedi come in with a strike team immediately after and he has to throw down with the premier duelist of the age >Baneite Apprentice shows up >Even wilder and brutal than the previous two fights, ending with the real Sith impaling the Baneite's arm and braining him against the wall until he finally stopped >Ending is him limping to the spaceport, everyone in his path terrified of him, and just inching out of the path of blaster bolts fired his way >Collapses as ship goes into hyperspace, breaking down emotionally at losing everything again >isn't even that bad of a guy >crime was being born sith >ending is vague if he bleeds out as the ship stops in unknown space
>>217394632Getting idiots to pay to watch a movie doesnt make that movie any good.
>>217394466There are six films. You've been crying about it for 20 years, and you'll be crying for not so many more since you'll be dead from a heart attack, you rotting geriatric.
>>217393311The CW prequel defense at the time was that the show “fixed” the prequels, not that the movies were good themselves
The prequels had trash dialogue, yes but they had actual effort, which is more than can be said for the sequels. The actors trained, the fights were choreographed, and it showed. Obi-Wan vs Maul was so fast it literally had to be slowed down because Lucas thought normies wouldn’t be able to follow it.Hayden actually learned how to use a lightsaber and got clowned for years by people who couldn’t tell the difference between wooden dialogue and physical performance. Glad he’s finally getting the respect he earned. The prequels gave us real duels: Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan vs Maul, Obi-Wan/Anakin vs Dooku, Yoda vs Dooku, Palpatine vs Windu (yes, the legendary goblin meme fight), and Obi-Wan vs Anakin, fights people still talk about because they had structure, speed, and intent. Some were genuinely great, others were hilariously unhinged, but none were forgettable. The sequels have nothing. The “duels” are just Rey windmilling at Kylo like she found a medieval greatsword in a barn. No form, no timing, no choreography, just sloppy swings and camera cuts trying to hide the fact that nobody trained. It’s not raw or realistic, it’s just lazy. Pure slop.
>>217393171Agreed.>>217393488Retard.
>>217393370>2. The sequels are not really hated outside the alt-right bubble.Maybe you can claim that only a small subset hates the ST (they are not alt-right lol), but the majority of people have something much worse than hate: indifference. They just don't care; the ST has been forgotten about.
>>217394632>compare raw box office>ignore inflation, market expansion, Disney hype cycle>sequels front-load nostalgia then bleed audience every release>prequels grow over time and still dominate memes + content>call that "success"Congrats, the sequels cashed in on nostalgia and still hemorrhaged viewers every film, while the prequels aged so well Disney’s been strip-mining them for 20 years

>>217393105Literally so bad that the themepark they spent a billy on is now themed to the OG trilogy
>>217393105I only liked the prequels because of the lego game. The Rey trilogy lego game came out in 2022, and if it's actually good you're going to have to wait another decade for those kids to grow up and show up on /tv/ and say "Man the Disney sequels are fucking AWESOME, not like episode 10-12. That's all a bunch of superficial political shit."
>>217395073There was already a lego TFA in 2016.
>>217394135It was one of the weirdest business calls i have ever seen. They shouldn't of had their hands on the project. they had easy money on the way and they fucked up pretty damn bad.
>>217393773Quite literally me, you smelly newfag. Stop trying to suck disney's dick, they did shit nothing for the prequels.
>>217394222>>217394235after episode 7 i checked out. it was so bad it literally gave me a migrane. jar jar binks was shakespear to this shit. lmao.
They didn't just brink back star wars from the dead... they made it a tranny zombie. kek. enjoy the show troon kids. lmao. what a fucking joke.
>>217394466Eat shit, Faggot. You're the reason we got the sequels. They wanted you retarded OTfags to clap like seals and suck their dicks. I hate you people in ways that you couldn't even know.
>>217394632ROTS made $55m last year. How much would a TFA rerelease make?
>>217395173FUCKING THIS. That's the biggest difference between the prequels and sequels. The prequels at least TRIED to be fucking genuine and not some DUDE REMEMBER crap
>>217393105The prequels actually work as a Greek or Shakespearean tragedy, The OT obviously works as Arthurian fantasy with western elements, but set in space. The sequel trilogy doesn't work as anything and the story doesn't make any sense.
>>217395192lmao
>>217395416keyword TRIED.
The only fun part of the Sequel trilogy for me was TLJ revealing that the rest of the galaxy immediately surrendered to the First Order and was refusing to come help the resistance. It was the cherry on top of Rian Johnson's efforts to fuck the movie after his. I was intrigued to see how the third film would write its way out of the First Order winning, but they used the laziest "oh the rest of the galaxy didn't hear your cries for help before here's a billion ships to the rescue lol" retcon instead.
