Hello, /tv/. Since my last post, there's been some major updates on the Bond 26 front and I will share them with you. Recently, just two days ago, the first preliminary round of auditions began. The participants were Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi, Damson Idris, Tom Brittney, Sam Corlett and American actor Colin Woodell as a wildcard choice. They all had their first tests. This is more so for the producers/filmmakers to get a "feel" of them as Bond and just testing them out as performers.

But these guys are not going to be the only ones. Leo Suter, Staz Nair, Aaron Pierre, Joe Klosek, Henry Ashton and Luke Thompson are going to be auditioning in the second round. Right now, Amazon wants Jacob Elordi/Callum Turner, as I said, because they think he'll get Dua Lipa to sing the title song which is a coup to them but his chances aren't great. Nobody's chances are too great because the feeling is very muted from everyone they've tested so far because the script, or even direction, is not yet set.

Knight has TWO drafts and Amazon is still clashign with him and Denis over tone and approach. Amazon wants to move forward fast so they can have the movie shooting by FALL for release just the year after but it's looking increasingly likely that Denis/Knight will NOT cave and they'll both drop out. This leaves auditions in a weird spot where these actors are basically auditioning for a script that is not yet locked in to the fundamentals.

Like I said, Knight's script is VERY subversive, very out-there and very much AGAINST what Amazon wants out of Bond which is to be able to compete with the biggest franchises out there, like Avatar or Avengers to justify it being their crown jewel but Knight's script is moreso a streaming thriller than anything that could be a four-quadrant blockbuster.

There's talks of bringing in a co-writer but Denis is threatening to walk if they do anything like that without his consent. Right now, Amazon WANTS Villeneuve's name to be attached because they think his name brand will give the reboot prestige weight industry-wise but they're also way in over their heads with the logistics of the freedom they gave him and Knight.

Amazon is caught between two camps of execs who thinks Denis knows best because hey, he made Dune right? But there's also the other camp that want him out and replaced PRONTO so they can get this damn movie out by 2027. No one is budging and everyone is working against each other. It'll inevitably boil over and Denis will quit come Spring when it's clear they won't budge, the Fall date is IMPOSSIBLE and that they wasted so much valuable time with nothing to show for it. Expect it by late February or March.

More to come..

He drops out like Boyle and they just get Martin Campbell back. Screenshot this.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson was the first and only choice for Bond for a long time, the reports in the media were true on this, BUT he was not cast because there wasn't a movie yet. Plus, he's now caught up in Cry to Heaven and made it known he doesn't want Bond and will go for the award season gold. He thinks he has a chance at an Oscar. Anyhow, this really fucked with Amy Pascal's plan because he was her first choice and so she let David Heyman take the lead and cast the net wide for other actors.

There's a 70% chance Villeneuve drops out in March. Be on the lookout for that. Nothing TOO big this time but I'll be sure to keep you posted.

The only decent ones are the Suter guy and maybe the guy who played Winston in Continental, even though he's a yank. He looks like Fleming's Bond. They're the right age. But the other names are grim indeed. it's so over.
