wow, my parents had that same model tv and also had a macrame thing hanging on the wall like the one behind that tv.
>>
this is the TV my parents had, it caught on fire in the late 90s while I was watching look who's talking and my dad carried it into the backyard. I used to watch horror kinos on beta that my grandma collected and used it to play sega and nintendo
>>
>>217394391
My grandparents had a TV like that and I'd always watch old cartoon movies and shows on it like Snow White, Pinocchio, Fox And The Hound, Popeye, and Woody Woodpecker

Time is a flat circle and retro-causality is real. It IS 1983 and 2026.
>>
First TV my parents bought for me, was some ancient artifact that had two knobs, some dials and switches. To program it you had to put the switches to channels on a base 10, the you used the dials to tune it to individual numbers, then you would save it to the knob that could only save 10 channels, the other knob was the volume

i have a tv like this but i'm not paying for an rf modulator to actually put anything onto it
>>

Bulky, so much to dust, taking up space -- this is why we fell for the flat LED TV
>>
>>217396037
+built-in VCR. I wasted so much buying VHS taped in LP mode off ebay to watch what I missed.

>i'm not paying for an rf modulator to actually put anything onto it

Do you have a DVD player or VCR? Then you can use your TV. Think about it. I used a VCR as a modulator all the time back in the 80s.

Future generations will never experience the crackle of static electricity as you turned on the cathode ray tube and the picture slowly brightened on the screen as it warmed up. Also that annoying high pitched sound that went away if you hit the tv on the top in exactly the right spot.
>>
*you may have to do some light hacking
Get some aluminum foil, that'll be your metal base, then a sharp knife to cut ends. Did I mention you'd have to sacrifice some RCA/composite cables? You do have plenty of those, yes?

That's the flyback (the thingy that connects the power to the TV part) and most people over the age of 30 can't even hear it. My TV seems to be "displeased" if I quit classic games too soon and responds with a harsher whine.
>>
>>217396460
I remember being mystified by the little rectangles of color that you saw if you looked at the TV really close up.

You will never know the excitement of watching Terminator 2 at home in 1991 because someone's dad spent $100.00 for the VHS tape.

This was our first cable TV remote. I still remember the way the clicks felt when sliding it

and we rewound the future war scene so many times. Then the SEGA Genesis game really hit it out of the park as it was fairly faithful to the arcade game.

>dvd players have fuckin RF-out
you actually made me get up and check. no, of course it doesn't. The cheapo set-top dvb receiver has 'rf-out' but i'm assuming it is just a pass-through of the antenna signal not a picture
>>
>>217396767
You can still use the DVD player, but you have to cut off the connectors. Sorry. Composite cables are cheap and you said you won't but an RF modulator, so....
>>
>>217394391
I'm assuming that I was born about 17 years earlier which would make me my brother's age (born in 1972). I guess I'd be watching Star Wars as those were his favorite movies at that age.
