The timeskip would have helped him a lot because it allows for a wide range of soft-retcons but he didn't do that and now he's left with a logistic nightmare.Really, the story should have been limited to Westeros. With the looming threats to the north and east left more of a mystery. It would have been insane if several books in, the rumours of dragons and whitewalkers actually eventuate but instead of surprise, we get the dullest chore of a parallel political drama that fucking sucks in comparison to the depth of the "main" story.
