In general it's better to have a reservation for a specific restaurants you want to try but you can also solitary gourmet it, and wander until you find something you like. I suggest to keep in mind a frietkot or kebab place serves quickly and relatively late, so if you can't find anything those are always good to know. Can't really buy a lunch in a store unless it's like noodle pots or a bread+spread or cheese but you would need to have cutlery.
