Does anyone else think it's weird how much this show influenced the 90s and then as soon as the 2000s hit it went to shit? What a weird coincidence?

The monster of the week episodes hold up better than the overarching plot that they were pushing throughout the series run. Didn't the later seasons double down on the latter?
>>
>>217399872
this show is so boring i couldn't make it past season 1 ep 3.
>>
>>217399872
it was only expected to those of us who are in the know

Her name is Dana Scully you absolute pleb
>>
it's like something happened in the early 2000s that changed the way most people thought of the world.

Monster of the week episodes are the best!
Fugg all those smoking man episodes, amiright? xD
>>
>>217400588
But the main cast members left and the quality of the show took a dive before 9/11? And how would 9/11 affect the show or the zeitgeist of the UFO 90s culture?
>>
90s conspiracies were fun before retarded boomers ruined them with insane shit like flat earth or by believing pure unironic foreign propaganda
>>
>>217400926
THE smoking man episode is one of the best in the whole show

You really had to be there when it was airing.

This is true of almost all shows. Lorefags are cancer.

Was a good couple of shoots. I think in Hawaii.
>>
The myth arc when it was about alien colonization was fine to me. Then it became about scully birthing alien Jesus and super soldier shit
>>
>>217399986
the overarching plot was always terrible in the show. It literally sounds like a less coherent Kojima plot if you read it out. Chris Carter is a hack and was carried by others that left the show before it finished.
This is like when people talk about how Heroes suddenly goes to shit after the writer's strike and it's because the good writers left the show after that but somehow people are flummoxed when it happens to many other shows when they can just look at imdb. People just often make the mistake of thinking that the creators of shows are actually the reason shows are good and that's only sometimes the case.
>>
>>217401467
The details of the mytharc were dumb, but for at least the good seasons of xfiles, many of those episodes are pretty good individually. Smoking Man is just fun to watch
>>
Robert Stack in a trenchcoat introducing some super goofy low-budget 'aliens land in some guy's back garden' bit was enough to captivate millions of viewers on a regular basis in the 90s
>>
For me it’s Krycek
>>
>>217401467
>Chris Carter is a hack and was carried by others that left the show before it finished
so he is absolutely exactly like Kojima
>>
>>217402093
Look where x files writer Vince Gilligan is now in comparison
>>
>>217402148
burning money on a bad show?
>>
>>217402230
And Chris Carter is...?
>>
>>217402233
im not defending chris carter, im just saying vince is now also going downhill pretty fast
>>
>>217402242
I respectfully disagree.
Even if I thought Pluribus is bad BCS and BB are better shows than what 99% of tv writers write in their whole careers
>>
>>217399872
Unfortunately it was on the wrong side of the conspiracies.

Great show but if it decided to follow the militia conspiracy crowd from the 80s it would have looked like it guessed everything about globalism.

Instead it’s just about a dumb psyop.

>UPDATE
>On the night this story aired, our switchboard lit up with calls. Thanks to one of our viewers, Dana Skully was located living under an assumed name in Puerto Rico.
