A digital camera is much more light sensitive which means you can use minimal lighting.that results in your camera catching light from all over the spectrum including darkness.in the top shot, there's a strong light blasting up Jamie Lee Curtis' face because otherwise you wouldn't see shit.in the bottom shot, it's probably a much softer light that's just adding a bit of coverage on her.
