This was one of the worst "good" movies I've seen in a long time. So many people are sucking its dick and it's a 5/10 at best. Most of that score is the guy playing the monster, whose performance is wasted here. It's like Del Toro caved to every single type of contemporary studio note. What am I missing about this piece of shit that so many people gravitated towards?
>>217406453It's played out like some semi-tragic super hero origin story
>>217406453i thought it was ok but they pander way too much to females by having the female character fuck 3 guys and get away with it
It had a good production design
>>217407030That's probably the best way to describe it. It hit all the beats, the tone, the framing.
I think it's his best since Pan's Labyrinth
Del Toro looked at the $120 mil budget he was given and said"I know, I'll remake the most clichèd monster story in the English canon. The story that all my movies have been aping since the very beginning... except this time I'll do a straight adaptation and do it badly: FRANKENSTEIN!"Would have been better off had they locked him in a room with a hero's dose of psilocybin until he produced literally anything else to piss away that 120m with.
>>217406453I don't get it either. It was fuckin trash.> This creature just murdered several of our ship mates> Oh but let's just let it walk out of here
>>217407030That much was obvious when he uses his super strength to save the dudes he was brutalizing a few hours beforehand while hero music plays.
