>>217409836I always felt like Black Sails first season was one of its weakest and one of the more egregious cases of a show trying to find out what the fuck worked. Even the visuals felt like they take a shift in a much better direction later, early on it looked a lot more sterile and soap operay but fixed that as time went on. The women are going to be around for the length of it, though. Max (the black one) gets worse before she gets better (and by better, on screen less). Their writing doesn't change much but they do take more of a back seat to the actual pirate and Flint stories as time goes on. Bonnie is kind of tied to Rackham for most of it but thats another situation where it felt like while still using her later, they didn't do it with the same determination of forcing her they had in season 1. It tends to gets better the more historical figures and storylines show up and they start taking the Silver thing seriously.It is pretty much Spartacus levels of annoying shit scenes to put up with for good shit.
