There is one design in particular that is particularly egregious with what looks like eight separate floating pieces held together by space magic.
I have a weird affection for this earlier design of the Enterprise. I think it just looks more like a real spaceship to me, but Roddenberry felt that it didn't communicate its scale effectively. He was right, but still.
