Stop bitching about not having anything to watch when you havent seen this masterpiece yet
You fucking fairy

i cant watch modern televsion without getting a headache. my personal favourite (self conatined) show is tinker tailor soldier spy with alec guinness. it doesnt try to over edit talking scenes to make you think the story is still moving. it just sits there with characters and allows you to take in what they are saying. thats why modern tv shows just have characters saying exposition most of the time because they think the audience will be too bored or tune out.

Watched on Tubi. It's sort of a mess at the end

Coming from having seen Le Samourai, Modesty Blaise, Danger Diabolik, & ofc Branded to Kill -- all released JUST before/concurrent with The Prisoner, this just struck me like ppl who want Bond to "mean sth more", but for the younger gen unlike Graham Greene/Le Carre.

I have seen it, and was obsessed with it for like a year afterwards. Now I’m just disappointed because I don’t know what else is that great. I’ve already seen.
>Twin Peaks
>The Sopranos
>Mad Men
>The Wire
>The Shield
>6 Feet Under
>Rome
>Utopia
Nothing is quite as enigmatic or interesting as the Prisoner other than maybe Twin Peaks for different reasons.

Peaks and Prisoner are it, you reached the peak (lol)
Maybe try The Maxx.

The final episode is a manic fever dream, but in a way that I really liked. But the few episodes leading up to it felt like the show was starting to run out of steam for sure.
>>

different type of show obviously but Twilight Zone is also top tier.

Venture Bros.

Nobody's even 100% sure what order you're supposed to watch the show on n.
>>
>>217412036
I watched the 22 episode order from Youtube since the entire series is free there. It made the Chimes of Big Ben the 2nd episode though, which feels like it really should have been saved for midseason.
>>217412013
Is it really that good? I always sort of figured it was just a parody of those 70s animated adventure series but edgy, so just edgy subversion but with better writing.
>>217411998
Yes, Outer Limits has some stand out episodes as well. Danger Man isn't esoteric and is pretty straight spy thriller stuff, but it is very well written and engaging throughout most of its episodes.

I may try The Maxx it seems up my alley. I was disappointed in Severance. A lot of it is still really good, but it just feels like it has to constantly remind you of what its own themes are, and it doesn't really have much mystery that interests besides that. It seems like its too self-conscious or something, it knows it wants to be a mind-bending mindfuck show, and so throws in surreal imagery to keep the effect, but without building to anything interesting beyond the idea of multiple selves and splitting as caused by our current work/life culture. If they end up making Melchik a good guy on the side of the Severed floor by season 3, I'll be gravely disappointed.

>Is it really that good?
Matter of taste obviously and your assumptions about it are relatively spot on, but it's an excellent character driven show that deserves to be in the conversation re high quality tv. Has none of the mystery or artfulness of a TP or Prisoner, it's just a very good show the creators treated like their baby. Starts out episodic and some people complain it gets so up its own ass about its own continuity that it gets insufferable, but I just wanted to push it since it's smart and high quality. It isn't afraid of being edgy but it's never a Mr Pickles kind of show or anything.

Yea, it's pretty "meh".
