Way too many flashbacks
>>
I only really like the first film of this franchise. The rest is entertaining, up until dead reckoning. Won't be watching this latest one.

The editing was seriously confusing me in certain places.

Probably has something to do with it being the only one directed by De Palma. Dead Reckoning was such shit. It reeked of someone writing something they didn't understand or some higher up demanding everything be dumbed down as much as possible. All of McQuarrie's films blend together, but that one was exceptionally bad.

>previous film goes out of its way to make a big deal about this whole 'ai determinism vs no fate' thing, pushing a true believer antagonist who is prepared to put his life entirely in the hands of his machine overlord against our heroes who are at risk of being outthought and outmaneuvered at every turn, but are determined to stay true to their own humanity... which makes for an extremely compelling and interesting narrative in the current times
>follow-up almost completely abandons the interesting premise in favor of drawn out and pointless nostalgia-bait.
