That the whole point of the replicants in the movie. They're these people with super intelligence and strength, but ultimately have the minds of children which is what made them so dangerous. You can't help but feel a little bit sorry for them despite the things they did.

You missed the point. It was about something that had no real regard for life suddenly appreciating how fleeting life is. He didn't really care that Deckard was trying to waste them. He understood why he was doing it. He hated that he gained a respect for life so near his own end. He saw all kinds of crazy shit that would astonish and amaze, but nothing compared to finally gaining a small amount of enlightenment
