Great essay that I never finished was by Tolstoy and he was just eviscerating Shakespeare's nonsense horrible over the top ridiculous storytelling. It was like a 1900s short book length shitpost. Pure gold. Fuck Shakespeare.

I didn't particularly enjoy it at school either, but macbeth was alright.
decades later I flicked through a little copy of macbeth and it was fairly fluid to read, I guess years of accumulated knowledge made it streamlined.
