However, casting a black man as Snape obviously reveals that they intend to expand his role significantly and they needed a visibly non-White character to satisfy the Jews, which is concerning. I wouldn't be surprised if they retconed the story somehow to make it so that Snape was a kind and nice person and James was a complete and utter asshole who abused Lilly.
