in my country, people will travel to america and 100% talk about the massive number of homeless people, human shit on the streets, garbage everywhere, and gangs of non-americans threatening violence. they all travel there because of the movies and tv shows. they all seem to regret it. i find it quite funny.

I get that it's not easy to just up and move, I run a small business myself, but if people were coming in multiple times and year, even a month and waving a gun in my face and trashing my store, I'd figure it out. Why don't all the decent people just leave the criminal element to themselves? Just wall off that part of the city (literally or figuratively), no cops, no fire, ambulance, no-one in or out, you're all just on your own. The problem would have to correct itself one way or another.

They knew the police weren't going to help them so they banded together, took to the rooftops with guns and kept the enemy in line.
