She did it in an attempt to get Walt to divorce her because she found out about him being a drug dealer and she wanted to get herself and their kids away from him out of fear. Not a great plan, but understandable in the circumstances. Before she found out about Walt her greatest crimes were being nosy and naggy and annoying. Not good qualities, but not evil or grossly immoral ones.
