Was it Star Wars fatigue?
>>
>>217421491
Incredibly over priced for so very little. 4800 dollars for two nights for two people to larp in a warehouse.
>>
>>217421491
>>217421523
Apparently not only was it very expensive, but you couldn't actually relax since you were on a schedule to do things. So basically you were paying lots of money to get bossed around in a windowless warehouse.
>>
>>217421523
>>217421656
This + the decision to make it ST themed was fucking insane, there are no iconic locations or characters or anything remotely interesting to work into the experience other than weird oblique references to the OT
>>
>>217421656
>but you couldn't actually relax since you were on a schedule to do things. So basically you were paying lots of money to get bossed around
i blame social media, my sister went to Thailand and complained that they were just shuffled around from place to place so people could take photos. doesn't help that disney spent so much money buying he rights for SW and it was clear the movies didn't have the same impact as the originals or even the prequels
>>
>>217421656
Right, I've never heard anyone say "I love following rules and tight schedules on my vacation". What's the demographic for this? Clearly not the average fan you'd need a truly obsessed fan. There aren't enough of them to recoup this "resorts" 1 billion dollar price tag.
>>
It was $5000 to go to prison.
>>
>>217421694
Hasn't that been Disney's problem since day 1 though? They want Star Wars to be the sequel trilogy not the original one. Oh the fucking hubris of the mouse.
>>
>>217421726
>it was clear the movies didn't have the same impact as the originals or even the prequels
I don't think alphoomers even remotely care about Star Wars anymore
>>
>>217421491
It looks lame. Already failed rule number one.

It kind of looked like one from the outside, yeah.

watch Jenny Nicolson's 4 hour Star Wars Hotel review
>>
>>217421918
I'd rather watch Avatar: Fire and Ash instead since it's only 3 hours and 17 minutes.
>>
>>217421882
They didn’t even bother to build the outside look for the spaceship? Why? That sucks
>>
>>217421882

Oof that's gotta be on rough prison

Such people do exist, they plan every excursion and activity with laser precision, my mom is one

>wanted to re-watch the 4 hour review of the star wars hotel
>look it up on YouTube
>in the recommended videos tab, there's a 'reaction' to her video by a group of star wars podcast faggots
>they shit on her video because they're diehard star wars/Disney cock riders, one of them vehemently disagrees with her, come to find out that he also stayed at the hotel, and called it "life changing"

I knew faggots like this existed, but this is just too much. This hotel was clearly a scam, designed to extract every possible dollar, and the proof is in the pudding: the shit got closed down in like a year. But despite that, you still have some absolute mouth breathing manchild who literally runs a star wars podcast defending it/Disney like he's their fucking lawyer.

>>217421491
>No Jabba the Hutt surrounded by bikini women sex slaves.
>No random strangers at the bar offering you drugs and death sticks.
>No Clone Troopers gunning down Jedi mercilessly with Order 66
>No Ewoks roasting and eating the bodies of dead stormtroopers
>No random aliens walking up to you at the bar and telling you how ugly you look.
>No Sith cutting down youngling baby Jedi while you eat lunch
>No bounty hunters dragging in kills and captured prey

Disney sanitized Star Wars too much. Pathetic
>>
>>217421491
yeah it wasn't just one thing they did wrong, it's more like they didn't do ANY of it right. The entire thing was prohibitively expensive. the rooms were literal shoe boxes that barely had enough room for 2 people. Having to keep up with a packed scheduel of activities. Most of those activities apparently weren't even that fun or cool. Everywhere you go there is some cringy faggot autist disney adult trying to larp, so you can't escape them. And on top of all that, they themed it around the worst era of the franchise and packed it to the brim with their shitty OC donutsteels.

They fucked up literally everything

No wonder they had to drive you to the entrance in a windowless box. Seeing that depressing "Starship" would make you turn back immediately.
>>
>>217421491
It costed up to $10,000 per night to spend the night in a warehouse LARPing like you're in a spaceship. It was doomed to fail.
>>
>>217421491
Galaxy's Edge is popular though.
>>
>>217421882
>>217421948
Honestly, I think people overreact about the main building just being a warehouse or prison or whatever. The thing that gets me is picrel. They didn't even fucking try to do anything with the facade that blocks it off. it's just a brutalist concrete slab, like its a fucking freeway underpass
>>
>>217421784
They absolutely don't. Before the ST it still had an almost biblical reputation, but now it's just another trash-slop megafranchise. Disney probably could have made more money off it by not making any movies and just doing merchandise theme parks and licensing, they could have avoided completely destroying the enormous pop-cultural reverence the property had

Charge a fraction of the price, and just do a Star Wars-themed hotel. The forced LARPing shit was an instant no-sell for me, even if it had been priced reasonably.

It’s also a once-in-a-lifetime kind of deal too, so you’re going to burn through the pool of people really quickly who are simultaneously still into Star Wars, are into LARPing, and are able to afford to casually blow that kind of money. That is an extremely specific audience to cater to. It’s like they built that hotel exclusively for Kevin Smith and Rocco Botte.
>>
You know what? I actually respect that a company the size of Disney took this risk. A larp hotel is such a unique idea, but so fucking niche that it was never going to work. (How many people are true larper freaks, vs dumb kids with their families?)
I find that level of autism respectable. Really I do. "There's no fucking windows because you're in space!" "Eat blue shrimp, it's alien food!" That's the kind of shit that I would insist on if I were running a larp hotel. The ironclad commitment to simulating a spaceship instead of making something commercially viable at all. I don't give a fuck about star wars but you can tell that they really were trying to make star wars feel real instead of just opening a themed hotel (which would have made money!). Good for them.

>this risk
I stopped reading right there. Disney is a billion dollar company that was built entirely off of IPs, resorts, and merchandising. Building an IP themed resort that also sells merchandise is literally the most obvious and safe decision they could have made. They just made the mistake of assuming the rest of the plan was not fucking retarded

the stormtroopers literally showed up in a boarding party though
did you want them there the whole weekend telling you to stop drinking and go back to your shitbox
>>
Turns out people don't enjoy very expensive prisons.
>>
>>217421491
for the price they were charging you should have been able to to fuck cosplayers dressed as twileks
>>
>>217423658
But they didn't go 100% into it it was a sterilised version of what a larping hotel should be.
>>
>>217423763
that's not a stormtrooper, that's like a legally distinct sci fi trooper from a star wars parody

I don’t watch some faggot YouTuber tell me how sad they were this sucked. What’s the backstory? Why did they make these decisions? Anyone got a QRD? 4 fucking hours is not a QRD.
>>

the force is female, thats all you need to know about the decisions that were made.

Overpriced and almost no recoginizable characters. I worked in Hollywood Studios from 2022-23 and I had to pass by this ugly ass building in the cast member parking lot every day and the people going into it would sometimes cause traffic. We knew from late in the summer/early in the fall at the very latest that this shit was going to close. Leaders were freaking out about it.
>>
>>217423875
you know how you pretend you could get away with talking like that but irl you're a fat boy
it was like that but cost $6000
>>
>>217423875
Black pill answer: Disney unironically hates poor people. Lower and middle class people are no longer buying the overpriced food, merch, and other real money makers in their parks. They just get in the way, make a mess, break shit, complain, and just generally make problems for the company. Gallactic Starcruiser was a deliberate attempt to segregate the retards with too much money away from the rest of the retards, so they can bombard them with targeted marketing and coercive sales tactics.
>>
>>217422504
All boomers in Eastern Europe are like that, plannung every minute and every cent of the budget as well. It's a cultural and generational thing here, but such people exist everywhere.
