>won’t even reach 1.5bwhat went wrong blue-bros. Absolutely nobody predicted this would make 25% less than zootopia Took me a half hour to post this because the fucking “object on the right” captcha constantly malfunctions
>>217425494>what went wrongway of water
>>217425494>will reach 1.5 billies>Avatar 4 and 5 confirmedFixed
>>217425494>has the most cultural impact>has the lowest box officeMAKE IT MAKE SENSE BROS
>>217425532no Avatar movie has had any cultural impact or ever will
>>217425549
I literally don't know ANYBODY outside this shithole that cares about this movie, how the fuck did it generate that much in box office? I literally go through 5 theaters and they have been EMPTY for weeks.
>>217425549Exactly. Only thing it has remotlry going for it is kinda cute but mostly meh blue space cat waifu's
>>217425561Cultural impact confirmed!
>>217425575Every movie is underperforming right now. People don't have money and taking your kids to the theater will run you like 100 USD for 3-4 tickets and popcorn You can make it a cheaper experience but you may as well wait for streaming then
>>217425549>>217425600If these movies had no cultural impact nobody would be watching them.
>>217425621Yeah I completely understand but in order to do that there should still be huge crowds and expectations... I mean this movie is literally making ALMOST THE SAME AS THE MARIO BROS MOVIE, how the fuck is that even possible? Nobody gives a fuck Avatar and now it reaches the same numbers as FUCKING Mario? Nah, sorry but this is money laundering to me.
>>217425692Mario was extremely successful.
>>217425575Are you in America? 75% of Avatar 3’s box office is coming from overseas which is why it’s getting dickridden so hard here since the board is just bug people and street shitters.
>>217425707So how can Avatar manage to reach the same numbers as Mario? What fucking kid wants to see Avatar?
>>217425731Yeah, I'm from a third world shithole. Mexico.
>>217425692It's not that hard to believe a movie designed ground up to have mass appeal and all about visual spectacle makes a bunch of money every few years. This "cultural impact" argument never makes much sense to me.What cultural impact did Michael Bay Transformers or Fast and Furious movies leave behind? Those both still pull a billion typically. I don't know too many people always talking about either, but they'll still go watch the movies. Same with Mission Impossible.
>>217425549Why does it need to have a cultural impact? Who honestly gives a shit?
>>217425575Apparently Cameron is spending millions of his own money by funneling ticket purchases through various shell companies.
>>217425818>Michael Bay Transformers or Fast and Furious They do have cultural impact as shit memes are still made about them: >retard sleeps >linkin park song starts playing>retard open his eyes>cut to transformers creditand who can forget MUH FAMILIA from F&F.About Mission Impossible Tom Cruise saved them but the last movie was considered a failure so I don't think this one applies.
hopefully it's enough to still get avatar 4 and avatar 5 made, i really want to see this series reach its logical conclusion
>>217425549It had indirect cultural impact, although short lived, by kickstarting the 3d movie trend. Avatar made 3d so hot that a heap of shit like Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland made an instant billion just for being one of the first 3d movies to follow Avatar.
>>217425734The people that like the Avatar movie series for sure saw Avatar 3, and you know how big Avatar 1 was.Anecdotally, I thought Avatar 1 was spectacular visually and alright as a movie. Avatar 2 was the same thing for me, and way too long. I don't want to spend $15 on another 3 hour movie that I find 'okay'. Seems like a bad deal for me.
>>217425864And people joke about blue people hair sex and the blue guy falling out of the vertibird or whatever it's called in slow motion
>>217425908There's literally no tik tok or instagram videos about that....
>>217425494>what went wrongbasically this >>217425507He just remade Avatar 2 instead of actually making a proper new movie. He reused too much shit.
ZOOTOPIA HAS HIT 1.7 BIL
>>217425936Yeah there are my zoomer coworkers showed me the other day
>>217425950Zero cultural impact.
>>217425507This. This is quite possibly the best movie on the series so far.
>>217425950It’s still Snow White if you adjust for inflation
>>217425945>He just remade Avatar 2This is the new "Avatar is space Pocahontas"
>>217425575>>217425692Avatar is making money via the international market. Pic-rel is the domestic comparison showing Avatar is behind Minecraft and Super Mario in the domestic box office. But it's doing better overall because it's so much more popular in other countries.
Saw it recently, it was pure mass appeal slop. If I didn't get free IMAX3D tickets I would have not paid for it.
>>217425494What´s there to talk about? Just accept Avatar cultural irrelevance, albeit to be more accurate it may be fair to say this generation, as whole, is artistically irrelevant. Anything Disney lacks iconic value be it Disney Wars or the Pixar movies. Slop. All of it. Add to that the lack of genuine new talented authors and the decadence of established ones (by either selling out or growing complacent) and you have a hell of a soulless combo. The next big thing... just never happened. Could have been Avatar, could have been Dune, could have been Planet of the Apes but in the end all fell short. Heck, there are not even stars worth a damn anymore. Most contemporary big names wasted their best years doing capeshit. Who would ever consider grown men and women that spent their 20´s and 30´s in thighs and are little more than glorified stunt doubles and models for serious dramatic acting roles? The same goes for those that spent it wearing mocap suits.
>>217425731>bug people and street shittersretarded much? go to any board with flags and you'll notice they're mostly European and from the Americas
>>217425494Every wannabe Ebert came up with a pseudointellectual excuse for why it's bad and they won't watch it instead of just enjoying a good sci-fi action movie.
SEVEN BILLIES FOR JIMMY!
Sullies stick together!
We've reached the point in our cultural decline where not only will studios only greenlight movies if they're a remake or reboot of slop from the 80s but audiences and critics will throw a fit if a director dares to make a movie that isn't Terminator 1000: Rise of the rebirth of the return of the machines or Aliens+even more aliens
>>217426841Ebert loved Avatar though https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/avatar-2009
>>217426899how did Marty Supreme get made then? you know the movie this board keeps shitting on
>>217427094You do know that movie isn’t even close tk breaking even right?
>>217427185It was greenlit and made, which you claimed doesn't happen anymore. Good movies are still being made (for some reason)
>>217427185somehow there are a lot of low budget films being churned out, funny how that occurs
>>217427276Oscar bait movies are nothing new, they take the financial loss to win awards and give the studio prestige. Money has to be made by other movies to offset the loss
>>217425494Trump caused a depression + sequel/remake/adaptation fatigue
>>217425532>>217425549Avatar has had some pop culture impact. It has a relatively extensive wiki, along with forums and subreddits.Secondly, its cultural impact isn’t huge because it was made for immersion. Everything is realistically designed, from spaceships to military uniforms and vehicles, and there are very few one-liners or quips. In comparison, the MCU and Star Wars design everything to sell toys rather than for immersion, and the dialogue is full of shitty quips. In fact, it’s hypocritical how people criticize the MCU for quips but then claim that Avatar has no cultural impact precisely because it’s restrained.Same for Dune. Dune, by design was very restrained movie. very few quips and very minimalist design. So what fucking impact it should have had? Some quip for people to quote?
>>217427347except a24 is all low budget
>>217425532>the most cultural impactAckshually
>>217425494The real reason it hasn't made as much is because the space of time between this one and TWOW was too short. The reason the last one made so much is because it released over a decade after the first one so people were excited to return to that world after so long. A 3 year gap is far too short for an event movie like this. Cameron needed to wait another 2 or 3 years before releasing it so that it could feel fresh again.
>>217425494will hit 1.777 billions
>>217426775>other boardsOkay?
>>217427796This is the correct answers. Nobody gives a shit about the stories in Avatar they’re tech demos for what movies can now do. It’d be like releasing the PlayStation 7 two years after the PlayStation 6
