All of this to the horror of Maximus who was raised and educated by the Brotherhood university system learning about white privilege and queer theory among other topics no doubt.Even Quintus's meltdown is supposed to represent the "rational liberal" absolutely losing their shit and turning into an emotional and dangerous maniac as soon as someone fails the purity test. It's more on the nose because Maximus is black and Quintus calls him son all the time, but then when he's no longer useful to Quintus, he instantly just tries to execute him. The cold fusion represents political authority and power and Maximus steals it from the Brotherhood because as a moderate, he deems them unworthy to wield it and he walks away with an abomination (black man and working class) into the desert as the Brotherhood kills each other because they can't agree on pizza toppings nor can they reasonably discuss it because they're insane. Even the tranny recognizes it, but doesn't feel safe anywhere else. The parallels are pretty endless.

No I think you’re reading too much into it. Its just a militaristic faction with spiritualist underpinnings that has had success & failures in the Wasteland to extremely varying degrees across all the games. In some games they’re a major player, in others they are just an armed side-nuisance which is what they are becoming in this show. I would expect them to barely be relevant in Season 3 even if Maximus sticks around.
