1) Fire EVERYONE involved and create a brand new studio owned by Disney but with a most independent board.2) The new premise is to loosely follow the old EU relatively closely, especially the pre-prequels 90s era books and comics.3) The prequels will be remade centered around a couple major plot fixes, but spiritually resemble the Luca prequels. The original trilogy will be remade, with ANH and ESB as plot canon, and the new movies using different POVs. For ROJ, the original plot vision will be restored where it ends with saving Han, and defeating the emperor will be reserved for a planned additional 2 trilogies.4) Step one: make the original KOTOR comics into an open ended movie series with other media. Zero impact on Yavin era canon. Treat KOTOR like a separate universe and avoid having the two time periods deeply affect each other.5) Appoint a story canon council to preserve canon integrity based on mostly EU wookiepeedia modified by new canon. Rather than doing legends/EU, deviate from EU as necessary, but try to stick closely to it where possible and treat legends not as a separate storyline, but as extracanonical stories that may or may not match pure canon.6) Remake prequels with this premise: Obi-wan is the main character, embodying the youthful, energetic archetype and his arc is to be beaten into a cynical old man. Palpatine is no longer Sidious. Instead, Palpatine usurps the Sith as a hidden force user. Much of Ep1 intact, but Anakin stays on Tatooine, only first training after he's Luke's age. Clone Wars are grittier.7) New Ep4 is basically Andor season 2 featuring Kleya, ending with the Falcon first flying in to Yavin.8) Year after new Ep4 releases, year before Ep5, release a remastered Star Wars enhanced and all special effects redone in modern tech, but shot for shot the original theatrical release.

>>217428115the first two steps are more than enough to fix the franchise
>>217429118You need a first direction though, and ideally you plan out the actual fucking story for 12 films in advance of making the first, at least an outline. That's how you stay coherent over two decades and built multiple generations of fans.
>>217428971TYHere's my concept for Palpatine, which fixes the not-surprise of him being Sidious as well as what was wrong with the Jedi, while bringing in cool non-Lucas EU stuff.Lots of wild force users in the galaxy, mostly alien life.MOST wild force use is gray at best, and gray force use is basically dark side force use.Ancient Jedi after a forgotten dark age war encountered the problem of weaponizing hidden force aliens by dark side lords, so created a secret clique hidden within the Jedi order that seeks out and genocides force using alien life.At any time, no more than one Jedi council member will even be aware of this, oftentimes, 1-2 generations or more pass with none of the masters being aware. The genocide clique also systematically scrubs all historical data revealing the phenomenon and scale of force using aliens. The Jedi are generally aware of unexplained holes in their archives, but it's a problem as old as the order. The Jedi actions serve to evolve force using aliens to conceal their force powers to avoid being genocided. One such race are the Gungans, secret masters of Naboo and the secret true cause of the Naboo blockade, known to almost no one.Palpatine was a wild force user whose early diplomatic career had him as liaison to the Gungans, who taught him to conceal his powers before any Jedi could discover him.His entire diplomatic career has been accepting posts which allow him to recruit force using aliens, ally with them, help conceal them from the secret Jedi death squad.Sidious is Sith Lord of the rule of 2, where the Sith are bored and complacent, but long have learned to run circles around the Jedi.Sidious becomes a red herring, the reveal of the Jedi death squad pushes Anakin to betray the Jedi. Palpatine leads a new dark force order, but is not Sith. Vader picks up the dropped Sith mantle after Sidious is defeated.
>>217429359Palpatine was gathering his force using alien allies to Byss, which was so near the galactic core the Jedi couldn't sense it. A particular race of force using aliens are the only ones who can navigate to it.Unique, strange and powerful force abilities are abundant between the hundreds of alien force using races Palpatine discovers, and his dark side use is not along Sith lines, but scientific pursuit of force manipulation through biological research into alien life.As for Sidious, Sidious's ambition is to pursue the mystery of a different kind of force user, not one who can command the force, but someone called a destiny shaper, someone around whom, for unknown reasons within the force, destiny revolves. He identifies Padme as one such, and his master's plan was to breed such a one with a powerful conventional force user.Palpatine is approached by Sidious on Coruscant, and becomes interested in Padme's potential, but for the most part remains genuinely loyal to the Republic as a Machiavellian who believes in galactic unity. His will to power and desire for order and organization are behind his claim to the imperial throne. Sidious and the Separatists are a genuine antagonist to the Jedi and Palpatine both. With the Separatists' defeat, Palpatine then uses his power against the Jedi, who are also his enemies. This matures the plot from "muh conspiracy how didn't they know" to more of a realistic commentary on Machiavellian power, idealism vs. will to rule.In addition to the last minute reveal of the Jedi death squads, even though they weren't sanctioned the Jedi order tacitly relied on their work, the Jedi also have to betray numerous of their principles to fight the Separatists. The reason is they correctly perceive the Separatists are the Sith, but Anakin becomes convinced the Jedi could by their actions go down a path to create new death squads.Anakin picks up the Sith mantle because he and Palpatine genuinely see raw power as peace.
>>217428115Fixing Star Wars1) Grow up and move on
>>217429497Since we want Anakin to train when he's Luke's age to fulfill the dialogue of ESB, we have to leave Anakin on Tatooine in a tragic circumstance that leads to his broken character.Leaving Anakin on Tatooine is accomplished by having Qui-Gon, the one obsessed with him, die by Maul's hand on Tatooine. This supports using Obi-Wan as the main character. He is the youthful idealist and is known for his raw force power. Not evil, but a bit wild and brute force. When Obi-Wan fights Maul on Naboo, it's an intense forceful fight that demonstrates unspoken things about the force. For instance, the lightsaber is merely a focal point for force pushing in a way. Jedi push and pull momentum into the weightless blade to give it weight on a swing or to take it away on a backswing. This is entirely part of the art of it, and has to coordinate with what kind of force and momentum the opponent is putting into their swing.Raw or undisciplined users can degenerate from saber battles to simply force pushing on each other and the two forces colliding in the air, deflecting to smash scenery.I want a fight where this is happening where the force fight leaves the sabers then returns to them after a messy brawl that breaks windows. Where Jedi visible increase their weight, but also decrease, manipulating forces and physics around them in battle.Where Maul pushes his saber into Obi-Wan's chest but Obi-Wan pushes back and the floor literally buckles under Maul's feet implying he is making himself heavy as tons of steel and it's all weighing down on Obi-Wan.The force and weight pushing while the red saber illuminates in the dark Maul's grim countenance and the pressure of their forces against each other cause chaotically whipping winds.I want Padme and Palpatine to be watching from safety, where he genuinely speaks praises to Obi-Wan's power and skill.
>>217428115Counter-proposal: Sell of the IP and let it be someone else's problem.
>>217429637I want Palpatine to seek for Obi-Wan and Padme to hook up to make the ultimate force user, but Sidious secretly gets Anakin to hook up with her. Then the two fight over Anakin and the issue of the corrupt Jedi is part of the issue, but Palpatine offers a path to stop the Jedi using his "shock" at learning about the genocide squads as an excuse to "change his mind" about them.Palpatine weaponizes Anakin's goodness to protect dark force using but naive and innocent aliens from an indifferent and unaware Sidious, with Padme as a lever, and gets Anakin to kill Sidious, but the "spirit of the Sith" haunts the room as the rule of two was created to channel Sith power and concentrate it into a super dark side user.Obi-Wan confronts Palpatine, who was happy to exploit Padme's death to manipulate Anakin against Sidious. Palpatine was promising Obi-Wan he could get with Padme and together he would help Obi-Wan reform the Jedi. At Padme's death, Palpatine concludes that with Anakin's children alive, they don't need Padme. This proves to Obi-Wan that Palpatine is indeed evil, Sith or not, and he also finally realizes he's a force user too.Palpatine is weary of this and gets Anaking to take out Obi-Wan, choosing now to just get rid of the Jedi rather than try to coopt them with a friendly Obi-Wan.When Anakin fights Obi-Wan, he lets in the power of the Sith to win, but he's so badly injured in the end, unable to wield the great power at his level of experience, that the power is only just enough to keep him alive.Otherwise Darth Vader would have been even more powerful.Vader, connected to the Sith power, chooses to embrace the mantle, while Palpatine happily accomodates this, although this his own alternative relationship to force use.
>>217428115SW is unironically dead. They thought they could MCUify SW and that's not what people want. SW is an event series, shouldn't have yearly releases. Brand is damaged imo just let it rest for a few years.
I think copying Zeta Gundam and making new republic was the corrupt antagonists woulda been better
>>217428115Counter proposalJust do the EU as an animated series, it could run practically forever, Hamill would do it til he died, nobody cares if it's Ford as long as it sounds like himStop making movies since they fuck them up and nobody can get them rightcartoons are much easier
>>217430050I wanted captain phasma to break off from the First Order and make like a bandit republic that took over the weak Republic but resisted the First Order.
learn how to fix the brand through the cartoon and then maybe do some movies again in the future past where the EU left offconstantly doing all these high pressure high dollar projects appealing to everyone that end up appealing to nobody isn't the wayyou have to get back to why people bought the books and merch in the first fucking place over decades with no film releasestheir EU is fucking garbage nobody cares
>>217428115There is no fixing or saving the franchise. If there's one takeaway from the last 25 years it's that no one is willing to fund any SW-related projects that aren't connected back to the OT, either as a direct prequel, direct sequel, or a side-story taking place in-between these; which means there is no making any SW content that doesn't suffer from the same problems all that other content suffers from - the constant cameos and memberberries, the endless bending over backwards to force never-before-mentioned Donut Steele characters into pivotal roles in the Clone Wars or Rebellion or whatever... there's no escaping it. Even the EU back in the day suffered from this. It's always been the problem with Star Wars, it's always going to be a problem with Star Wars. And so long as people keep opting to fund this over supporting the creation of new IPs, you will continue getting slop.
>>217430186>Even the EU back in the day suffered from this.it wasn't anywhere near this bad, not by a long shotI'll totally give you Mara being just-offscreen in the OT and the constant development of backstories for every fucking background character was cringe but also George gave them fucking NOTHINGhe would toss out garbage for "ideas' like darth icky because he didn't take that shit seriously at all, it was just "licensing" but it was the cash cow heart of it that bought that shit that also bought the toys and kept his ass in business as a major companythere was never this top-down approach to it so it was half garbage, but the OTHER half was the heart of the franchisewhat people gave a shit about
>>217430138If they'd been willing to portray the First Order as less cartoonishly evil, you could have gone an interesting route of having Finn and Phasma be comrades who end up on opposite sides of the conflict; Finn becoming disillusioned with what he sees as a worthwhile cause getting corrupted and saving Poe, betraying Phasma in the process, who then gets pushed to become more radicalized after Finn's betrayal. Nice little tragic antagonist arc.But then they wouldn't have been able to let the writers masturbate to punching space nazis.
anyone who says to do the eu didn't read itit was 5% gems 25% total shit and the rest was average but you bought it because it had lightsabers
>>217430281>it wasn't anywhere near this badThat's nostalgia talking. The EU had the odd diamond in the rough, but 99% of it was low-effort pulp garbage.Just like the endless shitty Star Trek books that came out during that same era.
>>217430305more fairly it's 40% gem/60% garbage IF you're discounting the books for straight children and some of the filler series that had no reason to exist like the Palpatine revivalsif you delete those nothing is lost at all, loltoo much fillerbut there is a definitive overall route to it that's way superior to anything the yidsney DEI hires have shat out
>>217430373it's not, I've reread it since yidsney ruined itit is absolutely adaptable with liberties into far superior quality product that people would like compared to this garbageit's familiarit's also a fucking apologywhich somebody needs to do KK is going out blaming fans all over againnostopjust fucking fix it
>>217430418*as an animated serieslike I said, just fucking do that, stick to that, fix its likabilityit's retarded NOT to
>>217428115What is bottom left? I do recognise this at all. Pls /tv/.
>>217430289My fix post Last Jedi was to have the third movie open with Rey driving out the First Order and capturing Ren, basically winning the war in the opening scene. As she confronts Ren deep below the Jedi temple on ruined Coruscant, they discover a secret, and she is revealed to be evil and possessed. The "reveal" seen in Last Jedi of her "parents" was actually revealing that she had no soul, which is why she was an endless mirror of herself. She's basically a meat puppet, like Snoke, of something ancient and evil.So the entire movie is a fugitive movie with Kylo Ren running from the now evil New Republic. Phasma leading a counter fleet of rag tag former Empire and also rogues. It ends where Ren goes to Mustafar to confront Vader's spirit.I had this scene in mind with shafts of light, and when Vader's ghost walked into the light he was Anakin but when his figure walked in the dark he looked like Vader.Anyway, the ghost helps Ren defeat Rey or something.
>>217430281>it wasn't anywhere near this bad, not by a long shottriclops. nuff said.
>>217430305I've read most of the books in that gif and they were all good
>>217430305I don't like the Zahn trilogy that much. Fucking love Courtship of Princess Leia, Shadows of the Empire. Anything touching the old Sith, like Exar Kun, was cool. Kevin J. Anderson's New Jedi order was aight.I loved Dark Empire though it was what it was in terms of not rising above a comic.Truce at Bakura was great.I liked when post-trilogy material invoked what they were doing with the Old Republic.Even TOR the MMO really leaned into that history. All the old Sith shit, the Empress Teta system, the Hyperspace War, Onderon, all that shit was awesome.
>>217430511That was a separate canon. I thought it was confusing there was also a trioculus but his third eye was in the back of his head or something
>>217430511straight garbage but in all fairness that was VERY early on before they even had any real ideas for anythingalso that one is a straight children's book, it's written for prepubescents
>>217430606a surprising amount of the stuff with the kids isn't completely terrible, at its worst it's more "TPM Anakin" tier shit than anything, nothing as bad as the Leia shit in Kenobiand they ended up through all that being these well built up characters that had actual fucking depth to thempeople cared about Jacen and Jaina, people got pissed off when they turned himnobody gives a fuck about Rey
>>217430624trioculus was from the same six novel series as triclops; where palpatine is said to have a three eyed mutant son with uberpowerful force powers. trioculus has three eyes on his face, but no force powers, so to convince everyone he's the heir to the emperor he stages a recovery mission to the wreckage of the death star to recover the right glove of darth vader which he believes has secret force power but doesn't so he creates a robotic version of the hand that gives him simulate having force lightning and then it turns out that he's not the real heir to the emperor, the real heir is living as a slave on kessel and has the third eye in his hand and it shoots out force beams when he gets angry.this was, of course, all declared non-canon by other EU writers, which was a fairly frequent occurrence during the 20-30 years the EU ran. every 5-10 years some new batch of writers would come along, declare that all the books that they liked and which had sold well were canon, and everything else was bullshit, and then they'd soft reboot everything. same thing that happened to paul david's books happened to tom veitch's dark horse comics where the emperor resurrects somehow and tries to possess han and leia's baby but gets trapped in the body of the long lost jedi survivor who became a floating cyborg guy with no legs; also the surviving empire is a cult that builds a fucking retarded space gun that fires giant bullets. the next batch of star wars writers at dark horse just completely wrote off massive chunks of dark empire i and ii and tales of the jedi.star wars reboots are not a new phenomenon, this has been standard operating procedure for the franchise for forty years. people seriously need to take off their nostalgia glasses and remember that for every thrawn trilogy or rogue squadron in the star wars eu, there are about fifty or sixty stinkers.
>>217430663>that one is a straight children's book, it's written for prepubescentsThe whole goddamned franchise is written for prepubescents.
>>217431565 and what do you think happens with something you're introduced to as a prepubescent and get a love for as you agedipshityou think it just goes awaynot my fault George wasn't smart enough to age the tone of the franchise with its initial audienceyou going to tell me the bible is children's shit just because there's children's versions of ithow was Luke beheading Lumiya for kids, exactlyAbeloth (as dumb as some of that was) (but Luke force pulling lava onto himself and it was fucking badass)you're not even my real dadyou know after Jaina kills Jacen she gives this implication that she wants to live with self-insert-A and self-insert-B and fuck them both that I could totally have lived without reading, hows that for prepubescents
ywn have that scene where Han and Leia have to turn over Fett's daughter's body to him after Jacen force-beats her to death during an "interrogation" without knowing who she wasthat shit could have been 7 while she was still alive

>>217431679I fucking hated "The Ones" and Abeloth was a decent attempt to unfuck Georgelore.I wanted to know where they were going with the mysterious ships that deposited the people into the Typhon system.
>>217431270the main problem was George would come through at any time himself and go "okay nothing in this time period happened anymore cause I want to touch THAT now" and sweep it all away himself, and that was the most involvement he cared to have with any of that, really, he wasn't really trying to guide it he'd just squash whatever he outright hated and contribute nothing to itit needs an auter's touch, a filter that just keeps the good while excising the bad and refining itthere's so much there that's already known and familiar that doing that kind of a refining and defining adaptation in some animated form would go a huge way towards both fixing its likability and letting them figure out WHY it worked to begin with, beyond the movieswithout any of that shit these are simply old good movies not some company that made billions in licensing sales over decades with only 6 moviesit was not the movies that kept this alive
>>217432340I didn't like that either it was actually a worse explanation than the midichloriansI liked Abeloth itself even though it was a bit over the top sometimes, trying to make it a REAL real threat after so many real threats in a row
>>217432340>where they were going with the mysterious ships that deposited the people into the Typhon system.also I don't even remember that to be honest, I'm getting it confused with the lost sith tribe Ben's sith gf was in
