Don't mind me, just passing through to remind you inland empire is the scariest film of all time
The scene with the face slowly getting distorted legit put me into a hypnotic state of horror like I was watching a DVD become possessed
>>217431125I can't watch polish movies, the sound sucks too much.
>>217431125it's too long and boring
>>217431125Thought this but the low-fi doesn't hold up over time. Cure still BTFO all contenders. Rabbits is more perfect.
>>217431125I love the film but it's more of a comedy to me than anything else.
>>217431407I dont know if its because im not a kid (only 30) but I dont feel this way about any decent movie. If its long action trash maybe but so long as its a real attempt at making side movie im game up to 3.5 hours
>>217431434>Cure still BTFO all contendersIt's not even Kiyoshi's scariest
>>217431599I generally feel the same way, and I even quite enjoy surrealist films. I love both Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive, but I find Inland Empire to be far too disjointed and incoherent to justify its runtime. The only thing I really found engaging about it was Dern's performance. It's just not something I can watch to enjoy.
>>217431685Pulse goes very silly by the end because of the scale it aims at.
>>217431125I independently came to the same conclusion.>>217431434Kairo is definitely more scary than Cure.
>>217431374https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwogGgHOzPIToo deep for you.
>>217432329I love how apocalyptic it gets in the last 10 mins, makes something that was previously very personable/isolated feel all-encompassing and inescapable, the execution helps a lot
>>217432513I think one of Kurosawa's strengths is that he's relatively straight forward with narratives, but his directorial style is so evocative that it creates a deeper dimension to it.I watched Chime the other day and (not really spoilers but warning anyway) everyone on leddit was cynically theorizing about the ghost being schizophrenia, a representation of x or y or some kind of puzzle etc. But in interviews he's like, well it's a ghost.
>>217431125The scene where she runs out of the dark at the camera scared the shit out of me
>>217431125Movie?
>>217432928Paranormal activity
>>217432928>inland empire is the scariest film of all time>Movie?Kys ESL
>>217432928Godzilla 1997
>>217433636Now, now. He might not be ESL, he might be a zoomer. You know they can't read.
>>217433636feel for bait like a slut award
>>217432928Happy gilmore 2
>>217431125I really hate these images
What's Inland Empire, this isn't the MTV thread?
>>217432513I agree with the other anon that Cure is scarier than Kairo, but I really like both. The apocalypse in Kairo reminded me of some of the Junji Ito apocalypses
>>217435222If you haven't seen Chime or Cloud, I recommend it. A good pairing to Kairo and Cure, in that order.
>>217431434>>217431685I think cure has a more consistent creeping dread though out while kairo/pluse has higher highs in the beginning but fell apart a bit in the second half.
>>217431125The only Lynch film I've ever enjoyed was Erasherhead. Inland Empire was completely incoherent gibberish. I was plainly able to understand the symbolism in Erasherhead being a metaphor for the fear and anxiety around parenthood. Inland? Impossible to understand, and as far as I'm concerned, was not made for any theatrical audience. It was a film selfishly made by Lynch FOR Lynch, since he's the only party capable of understanding that shitshow.
>>217435500He said there is no meaning in his movies beyond how they make you feelYou were too busy trying to make up a story line instead of just enjoying the movie
>>217435500>watch it with your eyes>hear it with your earsthat's all you ever need to understand a film
>>217435616> He said there is no meaning in his movies beyond how they make you feelI too, would say that if I directed a film that was purely schizophrenic nonsense
AHHHHHHHHHH
>>217435500It's about domestic abuse and oppression within relationships and the killing of the phantom is laura dern overcoming that
