Recently started watching TOS. Do I watch the other series in release order or is there some secret meta?
How do you wish you had watched everything?
>>

What was Insaneway's craziest moment?
I know Tuvix gets talked about a lot but for me it's either the time she tried to torture a guy from the Equinox and was only stopped by Chakotay or the time she jailed Tom Paris for trying to stop a genocide
>>
>>217432970
Are you going to seethe about this for the entire thread, as usual? Try discussing Star Trek instead.

Things are easiest to parse if you watch it in release order, though back in the day a lot of us just watched it as random reruns.

Release order is fine. Just stop at Voyager. If you want the experience Treksters had when the shows were coming out, you can watch TNG, DS9 and VOY together in release order episode by episode. It doesn't really add anything.
>>
>>217433185
And if possible, turn on the RiffTrax commentary!
>>
>>
Should i start NG with season 3?
>>
>>217433338
The first two seasons still have some good episodes, and the bad ones you can just laugh at.
>>
>>217433233
I've heard the ones after Voyager were pretty ass. I never considered watching them episode by episode in chronological order, and as interesting as that sounds I probably won't. I feel that it would just be too confusing. Fun idea though. Thank you.
>>
>>217433129
Good point. I have seen a few scattered episodes as reruns on my own, but I do want to sit down and watch from end to end.

Are you suggesting it's OK to laugh at some TNG episodes? I have it on good authority that means you're not a "real" fan, and should now be harassed and shunned endlessly. Don't look at me—these aren't MY rules.
>>
>>217433398
Yeah TNG seasons 1&2 being unwatchably bad is a complete meme

ENT was pandering to coomers and people traumatized by 9/11
>>
i dont believe the star trek world would ever exist and wouldnt want it to since it would call for everyone to be eunuch who serve one purpose. i would wage war on that society to establish individual freedom of thought and living.

Start at Season 1.

One of my favorite gags in all of Star Trek is when Kirk wakes up in a dungeon next to a skeleton and starts to call out "Bones" but then stops himself when he sees it.

ENT is not good but it involves so many of the core movers and shakes of Berman Trek that you can't separate it from the other shows, so it just becomes the worst of them instead of "Not Star Trek."

The core of the show and its approach to storytelling is ultimately the same.
They tried to "modernize it" by sexing it up which is far less egregious than the shit you see these days.
>>
>>217433547
>pandering to coomers
Star Trek always did. In fact, it's one of the many reasons nu-Trek isn't real Trek.

"Even more so than Lower Decks’ comedic antics, (SFA) is a significant changeup that initially shares more DNA with CW teen dramas like 90210 than Kirk or Picard’s high-stakes missions. But with time, this bizarre mishmash that no one asked for turns out to be an unexpected opposites-attract situation, a deeply sincere series that successfully combines adolescent awkwardness with plenty of sci-fi circumstances: interstellar diplomacy, ethical dilemmas wrought by technology, and nightmare alien cannibals from deep space." - AVClub
