Completely dead on arrival
>>
Shame, it was a decent movie. doing these multi-part movies rarely pays off though unless you're harry potter or LOTR. plus dumping it in January and barely marketing it
>>
Dont care about how much it made.
It exists for my enjoyment for the rest of time.
A part 3 is unnecessary, but I will view it if it is created.
>>
why doesnt the eu just bomb the island?
>>
why does it trigger chuds? it was kino

I don't know why they made this. It's like they wanted it to fail.
>no Boyle
>dumped it January
>given zero marketing in comparison to part 1
Are they still doing part 3? How do they expect a ton of people to go see it when no one saw part 2?
>>
>>217434188
>first one has strong opening then poor word of mouth from low iq people
>this one has weak opening but will have strong word of mouth

Whats gonna happen?

Is this what "DEH!" posting looks like irl?
>>
The only way to save the franchise now is to hire Paul W.S. Anderson to do a sequel on a severely reduced budget. They could call it 28 Years Later: The Final Chapter.
>>
Does this mean we’re still getting the 3rd one?
>>
This one will do strong when it goes to streaming
>>
>>217434496
possible it could limp to its budget, seems like all the marketing budget was used on the last one

It must have been an accounting thing. The movie apparently cost $60 million but it looked cheap and small. I still loved it lol but it's a cheap movie elevated by Ralph Fiennes, big Jimmy, and Maya Rudolph Jr

Everyone has social anxiety nowadays. Nobody goes to the cinema anymore they just watch until it comes out on streaming platforms.

Shan't watch it then, I only watch expensive films like Indiana Jones and the arrow of time!!

The last Indy movie looked like shit

Nah the only people that went to see this on the opening weekend are the ones who liked Part 1.
>>
>>217434675
Every time I go to the theater (alone obviously) there are a handful of of people by themselves as well. Even for crowded mass appeal movies. This is a big city so maybe people are used to being alone
>>
>>217434747
It was expensive though, thats what makes it good.

Not my point bozo

I do find the budget quite curious. A lot of this movie ended up reusing sets that were presumably built for 28 years later such as the bone temple and the abandoned train. And then the rest of the movie takes place mainly innawoods and in a standard british farmhouse. Ralph Fiennes is the only actor in it who would command a big salary and even then I doubt he cost more than a couple million. Doesn't look look that effects heavy (barely any zombies, barely any set extensions). I dunno where the money would've went.

I thought years costing $60 million was also a bit odd but it was definitely more effects and location heavy.
>>
>>217434858
its like how they say Avatar 3 costs 400 million. when they spoke extensively how 2 and 3 were made at the same time. Sure thats much more effects heavy, but 3 uses a lot of the same environments and models as 2.
>>
>>217434858
For me the most telling part was lack of brutal zombie kills from Samson. The train scene was underwhelming for how violent it could have been
>>
>>217434188
Everyone hated the previous one. People jusy want to see Cillian Murphy again. Who wants to watch a continuation but with a director who can't at least make it visually interesting like Boyle can?
>>
>>217434858
Cillian Murphy, Danny Boyle, and Alex Garland all command a huge salary, even if Cillian was only it in for 2 minutes and Boyle was a producer
>>
>>217435212
That's true but 2/3rd of those people were involved in the last movie which had the exact same budget but didn't feel as cheap.
I'm also guessing that Boyle made far less on this one because he wasnt' the director.
