Is being a detective really as cool as the kinoes say?
Thinking of going back to school at 27 to become a detective

>Is being a detective really as cool as the kinoes say?

Life pro tip: nothing is as cool or interesting as movies or TV make it seem

no, retard

Mostly it’s waiting in the car and tailing trophy wives to see if they are cheating. Don’t do it unless you are a voyeur and get off on that kind of stuff. There’s never a dame walking into your office like a tigress walking into a Burmese orphanage and if there is it’s a beached whale who thinks her husband is cheating on her.

most famous IRL detectives have one really noteworthy case over a thirty year career. but most detectives never become famous. discern from that what you will.
>>

private or police?
I wouldn't know either, but I'm guessing the former has a lot of boring grunt work for meaningless cases like following a guy around with a work injury to deny his insurance claims, and the latter, you have to go through years of street police work to get a job as a detective.
>>
Nope. 99% of it is blacks shooting other blacks in broad daylight and no witnesses will talk. It's never some interesting whodunnit. It's always blacks.

That's PIs and it's mostly insurance fraud.

Join ICE. You would have several paths to choose from with a fat salary to start. Either go into detective work or join their elite team or just mace some libs for a while.

Scott Shelby ass!

it is if your partner is a veteran who has been on the force for 40 years and is working one last case before retirement
>>
I'm not ACAB or anything but I think anyone that aspires to become a cop is probably the most pathetic kind of cretin walking the planet.

I'm about to PI you so you lose your disability lazyass
>>
there is probably more paperwork involved. the other guys and the wire are probably more accurate about what you would do.

Jamal Washington was gunned down at 3:30 AM. Family say his was an aspiring rapper trying to support his 47 children. Detective anon gets the call, the first 48 hours are the most important.

Detective anon hasn't slept right in 20 years and is on his 3rd marriage. This is his story.

No it isn't. My uncle was a homicide detective for 30 years. It ruined his life: he had 4 divorced and 5 marraiges and like 9 kids, my cousins, several of whom became drug addicts and homeless because he was an ansentee father. You basically sleep and work because the department is so over worked and understaffed.

Police detective? You gotta become a police officer first. From what I understand they have to see some really gnarly scenes.
>>
>>217437859
No, it isnt. You're mostly investigation bogus claims made by retards that lead to nothing because of some petty disagreement.

Detectives aren't real.
>>
>>217437859
You don't go to school to become a detective, you do two-three years as a cop first and then you can promote to a detective.
>>
>>217437859
You have to be a police officer first before you can become a detective.

>he had 4 divorced and 5 marraiges and like 9 kids, my cousins, several of whom became drug addicts and homeless because he was an ansentee fathe
And people wonder why millennials don't have kids

Beat your wife from the stress of lying to black people with a 72 iq so they admit to murder
>>

It's a bureaucratic slogfest run by morons while the DA gets off on fisting their ass. They get both their hands tied by suits with bullshit red tape and barely any OT.
On top of that, the nagging ex-wife with the alimony and two kids who couldn't give two shits if they drank themselves to death in a gutter.
>>
>>217437859
I was a private detective for a couple of years and it was lame. I mostly worked bullshit insurance fraud cases that only made me hate insurance companies more.
I realized that I was the mall-cop equivalent of a police detective and finally quit. I would recommend going into law enforcement if you want to be a detective.
Maybe PI work is more exciting if you live in a major city and have more variety in cases to choose from.
>>
>>217437859
Yeah, jobs are just like they're portrayed in the movies.
>>
>>217438900
looks like he lived a full life
>>
>>217440156
Well there was never a dull moment lol. He was also an alcoholic. He died March 2024 of dementia, he was 80 years old.
>>
>>217439754
His relationship problems were more due to his alcoholism and work schedule, he also kept picking really, really shitty women who were either also alcoholics or drug addicts. He was just fucked, but what's funny is he was an amazing detective, in Miami no less.
>>
>>217438276
Second-most.
>>
>>217437859
No, the reason "detectives" are popular in media is because is a really convenient plot driver
