Its about how/why Hamlet was written.
>“Hamnet and Hamlet are in fact the same name, entirely interchangeable in Stratford records in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.”
>>
>shakespeare had his ears pierced
zesty bard

>Purposely trying to find out what Shakespeare was inspired by so you can thrust your ugly chink girlboss DEI ass into the same lane, "LET'S SEE A POWERFUL WOMAN DOES IT! STEP ASIDE SHAKESPEARE YOU RACIST NAZI CHUD!!!"

I don't like having my elbow jogged, this movie was manipulative bullshit. Just like Song Sung Blue, which I yelled at my mom and sis for liking. Well, my sister pretended to like it to spite me, but this Hamnet bullshit is just as bad.

It was alright, but forgettable. She did a good job in the scene's featuring the family, she really humanizes Shakespeare. At the same time, though, you could tell she has little to no theater background, as she dropped the ball in every scene relating to the writing process, rehearsal, and theatrical performance. She also made little to no connection between the trauma the death caused Shakespeare and his family, and the actual play Hamlet itself. Hamlet is really a simple character: he is in a constant, ceaseless state of dismay and despairing, because he has lost all hope. But she doesn't connect the dots between the family trauma and lines in the play, but how could she? She admitted herself she has basically no familiarity with Shakespeare: I at least respect her honesty.

Not sure why she even tackled the subject matter if she has no familiarity with Shakespeare. These types of directors are just hungry for some letterboxd vibe projects and easy awards. It's all forgettable stuff that just ticks artfag boxes and has no staying power whatsoever. This kind of movie will be forgotten in a week and never revisited.

Two movies last year had to immediately explain their titles with opening text, Hamnet and Sisu: Road to Revenge.

My guess is because it was an adaptation from a novel written by a woman so they had to have a woman director. She's also Hollywoods it girl or whatever after winning best director a few years ago
