I did not care for Blade 2

It's much better than Trinity but still a massive waste of potential.

Smaller budget on the second movie and then the third movie was being used to launch Ryan Reynolds career.

2 feels like it's missing at least 30 minutes of runtime. Also a total waste of talent that they just kill off immediately.
>>217441028
Tax evasion is based. You're the nigger for wanting us to pay into your gibs.

The Blood Pack members were expendable and more can be recruited, the big failure was Blade 3 acting like they never existed
>>
First film had elements of horror and urban squalor, which worked well. Del Taco used his sequel as another vehicle for his creature designs and he didn't mind if the story was formulaic capeshit, like X-Men with fangs. The third one was obnoxious and filled with unfunny snark and quips. I'm still shocked that Ryan Reynolds managed to become a star after that.

>Blade

Amazing. One of the best comic book adaptations of all time.

>Blade II

Still great, but fumbled the ball in a few places. Potential not fully reached.

>Trinity

We don’t talk about this movie.

Blade 2 is a genuine 0/10.

I didn't either. I'm always surprised to see how many people try to claim it was better than the first. I liked some aspects of it but on the whole I thought it was significantly worse.

I'd be amazed that Uwe Boll had directed a major studio film that evidently had quite a bit of money and effort put into it, because that has not happened once in his career.

Blade 1 is one amazing. Guillermo del Toro said in the behind-the-scenes for Blade 2 that "Norrington got it right" when he made the first film - and that's true. The first one just works on every level. Stylistically reigned in and filled with lots of bad ass action scenes.

GDT just went overboard with Blade 2, like he always does, and it's almost like watching a saturday morning cartoon. There's some terrible looking fight scenes in that one.

Blade 3 I only saw once, and it has the misfortune of being made in one of the least stylistically appealing eras of all time: The pre-Bourne and Batman Begins influenced early 2000's.

Because at its core, blade is a one movie story. One and done. I can see him appering in other heros tales, but stretched out in a trilogy, there's really not enough there to go on. They should have made one, the 1st and had the 2nd and 3 movie be more of a tv series combined maybe. That way they could have fleshed out hings better.

the end of blade literally sets up a continuation in russia. then blade 2 pisses it all away in the first 5 minutes for some fan fiction crap

Blade 1 is a classic movie. It makes vampires look badass, sexy, seductive and ultimately very dangerous. Its a cold, bleak universe of one man fighting a war our whole species doesn't know exists and is existentially threatened by. Its a horror movie mixed with action and has very disturbing and shocking imagery to go with its distinctive. It modernized the vampire mythos.

Blade 2 was a lot tamer, a lot more palatable to the audience, but its still managed to maintain that edge to it. It still had that coolness while mixing more sci-fi elements into it with the ancient stuff. Nomak is a cool villain and the Reaper strain brings more of a modern biological aspect to vampirism as much as the previous film did, depicting it as a transmittable disease or a form of cancer with a purpose.

Blade 3 was literally just writing Blade out of his own movies and Wesley out of his own franchise. It was crap that didn't get the tone or the mood of the original whatsoever. It was the first attempt to capeshit-ize the franchise, and Ryan Reynold's was an annoying fuck in that movie, Triple H added nothing to the picture, and Jessica Biel being hot couldn't save it either. It didn't feel like a Blade movie at all. And the entire premise is to kill Dracula? The head vampire? The guy who started it all? Where the fuck do you go from there? No wonder Wesley was so pissed off, literally sitting the entire movie in his trailer smoking weed and signing 'Blade' on sticky note messages to the director cause he refused to talk to him anymore. Wesley had the right attitude in that there was never going to be another Blade and they fucked it up by the third film. He knew the character and what made him cool, inside and out. When Bruce Willis had these sorts of problems, he would simply ask them who the fuck else are they going to get to play John McClane, but Wes didn't have the clout or the star power the Willis did ; I wouldn't have opened my goddamn eyes for that close-up shot either.

Blade 3 orginal script was butchered that's why it is such a mess even tonally with the vampire killers team being the worst offender

>Blade 3 orginal script was butchered that's why it is such a mess even tonally with the vampire killers team being the worst offender

The fucking "Nightstalkers" or whatever the fuck they were called to sell toys; this is just somebody aping the previous script but instead of everyone dying, they get to go on and have their own adventures and Blade would just be the chauffeur or something. 1 was so good or maybe TOO good that it didn't warrant a sequel but 2 did its own thing while keeping what made the first one cool which was Blade being Blade and three just fucking tossed that winning formula out the window.

I mean...its a movie about a dhampir that uses swords and steel stakes, guns, martial arts, his cool car, his grumpy mentor, and he goes around killing vampires who are an ancient menace that are constantly trying to control and upend the world and unleash even more horror to gain control and dominance. Add in sweet cinematography and hard techno music club tracks that make people want to fuck to.

We now have a shit third sequel that killed the franchise and soured the lead actor, cancelled television series, a cancelled reboot, a brief cameo by the original actor that spurned talk and interest, which was then cancelled. Why is this so fucking hard to do?

I miss all those early 00s movies, like Underworld, Van Helsing etc. Where they were clearly just B-Movies but they worked. Why don't we get any of them anymore?
>>
>>217444958
this movies needs to be edgy and a little gory to work while also taking themself seriously enough, that is impossible with so much potential money at stake, it's too risky. Another problem is that snipes IS blade, you cant replace him, but he is also too old
>>
They're all great, warts and all, you guys don't appreciate 2000s kino.
