So now that the dust has settled, why did it flop?
>>
Because they've always been shit zombie flicks and they've only gotten shittier over time. Now it's a giant pile of steaming horseshit.
>>
>>217450476
Because it's January everyone has gone back to school and work.
>>
Who was you're waifu? Jimmyma or Jimmy Ink?
>>
>>217450622
because they're not paid 1 rupee per post to pretend to like shit
>>
>>217450476
Because they named it fucking bone temple and not just 28 whatever later
>>
>>217450731
>EVERYBODY IS A PAID SHILL EXCEPT OTHERS CHUDS LIKE ME
You sound like a chudfected.
>>
>>217450731
Obviously this
>>
>>217450843
liking bad movies is inherently indian. getting paid to like shit movies is just a bonus for street shitters
>>
>>217450476
Because the last one tanked the franchise, not well received by audiences, and sank like a stone after its first weekend. Barely anyone even bothered showing up to see the next one. Funny part is after this one is good the next one will probably go up in the box office

There was, in the scene where the people that the Jimmys torture are out hunting before they go home and find the Jimmys there.
>>
>>217450476
Released in January with no marketing.
>>
>>217450961
None of them were naked in that scene
>>
>>217450476
dunno. it got good reviews. i dont think people liked the last one and the studio has pushed this out with minimum publicity.

like all true zombie kino it will become a cult classic.
>>
>>217450978
all because they wanted to release it 28 weeks after the last film. and they didn't even market it with that gimmick either kkek
>>
It's clear why it failed.

First couple of movies had broad appeal and were made and marketed as such.
The moment they started to focus on the "lore" of the franchise it lost it's broad appeal and now only matters to people that give a shit about the particulars of the setting, which is like ... a nearly nonexistent audience.
>>
>>217450476
the first trailer having a much shittier audio clip and song over it (in an attempt to replicate the Boots trailer for Part 1) probably didn't help.

https://youtu.be/EOwTdTZA8D8?si=hHLdprp-u4c7q4Sq
>>
>>217450990
The Jimmy Saville power ranger teletubbies getting introduced at the end of that film was probably a misfire from Boyle, they needed a full film to really sell them as a concept, I hated them at the end of that movie but they were kino in this. Also the Kelson and Spike plotline in general was a massive bait and switch when the marketing pretended it was going to be about chad dad Aaron Taylor Johnson going Legolas mode on zombies for 2 hours. Maybe structurally it would have been better to have the first movie just be the same style as the first hour of it, and then have the wild mad max style tonal switch happen all in this one.
>>
Because it's a stupid fuckin idea and plot. That's it.
>>
>>217451031
>The moment they started to focus on the "lore" of the franchise it lost it's broad appeal

this is fair. it's basically a character-driven fantasy franchise now.
of course that's also what makes it so much better than most horrorslop.
>>
>>217450476
zero advertisement, I only knew it came out because of the threads here AND I initially thought something like "didn't they released this a while ago?"
>>
>>217450476
If you liked the first one you’ll love the second one. It was absolutely kino. The first one is a smash hit on Netflix right now
>>
>>217451085
Why does it upset you chuddies so much?
>>
>>217451082
>the marketing pretended it was going to be about chad dad Aaron Taylor Johnson going Legolas mode on zombies for 2 hours

it didn't do that at all, people just projected the movie they thought they wanted onto the trailer.

I think it actually blindsided the filmmakers, there was no intentional deception on their part because they knew the actual movie and didn't realize people would just assume most famous man = main character.
>>
>>217451042
Not as kino of a trailer but more truthful about it being britbong mad max which probably helped the audience response in the theaters. If it was marketed as gritty survivalist action horror again then people would have seethed about Kelson and Samson best buddies storyline and the kung fu jimmy savilles.
>>
>>217451085
yeah zombies are a silly idea, it'll never catch on.
>>
>>217451138
Maybe they should've been more careful about what to present in the trailer then? That's what normal people go by when they need information about the movie.
>>
>>217451138
>it didn't do that at all, people just projected the movie they thought they wanted onto the trailer.
Agreed, it's just that the movie they thought they wanted and could see in the trailer was substantially better in almost every respect than the one they got, which offered them a glimpse in the first half hour, then glued a dildo onto its forehead and slapped them in the face for it while insulting them for not enjoying this new and quirky experience.
>>
the movies will be classics as people watch both movies simultaneously and hit the “Kino” rating on Netflix to show their love of the films
>>
>>217451138
Nah, 90% of the trailer is from the first half hour with him and even in the last 20 seconds when it starts showing the Mom and Kelson bits it keeps splicing shots of him in to make it look like he's around for those parts.
>night shot of mom in Kelson's bone temple
>immediately followed by night shot of ATJ

>>
>>217450476
too much british and britain is dead
>>
>>217450476
A lot of people probably didn’t understand this is a new movie.
>>
I liked it -but i felt they did my boy Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal dirty in this movie. Think of the end of the first movie, the pure charisma as he saves Spike, also, how his team waits on his every word (and you feel his command is all done with charm and dark magnetism).
In the second one they made him much less seductive and he was actually insecure, ruled strictly by fear and was even worried about being usurped by a girl half his size.
If they'd written Lord Jimmy a little better i'd have bumped this movie up from a 7 to an 8 or 9.
They definitely missed a trick, there was more to explore with Lord Jimmy.
>>
>>217451258
leaving out action shots in a trailer might literally not be an option, as at the end of the day they just need to get the most bums on seats.
but it's a pretty unique case where the trailer actually shows the entire plot, in order, yet audiences still expected something completely different because of an equation in their heads that said zombies = action.

I wonder how they'd react to the relatively small amount of action in 28 days if that movie was deleted from history and re-released today. it might get roughly the same amount of WTF responses.
>>
why didn’t the jimmies have an orgy? how did they manage their pent up sexual hormones? we need to know how the cult conducted itself sexually, you can’t just brainwash and control people solely with sadism, you need pleasure as well
>>
>>217451312
That's the message right there
>>
>>217450476
Because 28 Years Later disappointed audiences, the franchise lost their trust. And they wouldn't have like this one either if they'd bothered to go see it. They want generic zombie thrill rides and there movies are not that.
>>
>>217451301
let's be honest. a lot of horror fans don't want character drama because they have an empathy problem. hence all the torture porn and misery porn about a protagonist who is stalked then inevitably killed by an unstoppable supernatural force. terminal illness and 12yo main characters learning a lesson about mortality isn't really what they buy tickets for.
>>
>>217451387
people "needing" to be sexually gratified is a post 1960's meme.
People lived perfectly happy, sexually repressed lives before the "sexual revolution". indeed civilization at its very core is founded on repressed desires.

people had monogamous couples do dump their sexual desire into, it wasn’t a society of monks. The average man had more sex then than the average man of today.
The boy jimmies, especially the teen ones, would’ve been incredibly horny, and the girl jimmies would’ve been sexually receptive
giving “charity” would’ve include a definite lack of using jimmies during sex
>>
>>217451415
Nobody wanted a "generic zombie thrill ride" from 28 Years Later, you fucking retard. The whole idea of the infected becoming a semi-sentient subspecies, the survivors struggling for some kind of co-existence with them and what the Bone Temple was all about was all broadcast in the trailer. It's just that the final result was some weird mashup of Eastenders soap opera and strange, pretentious artfaggotry about very basic and overdone themes.
>>
>>217451456
>indeed civilization at its very core is founded on repressed desires.

>when In the House In a Heartbeat starts playing
ABSOLUTE JIMMYMA
Definitely a good choice leaving it out of the first one. It was way too calm overall for it to have been satisfying to play at the climax of.
>>
>>217451311
okay you made me look, this is actually interesting.

Kelson doesn't appear until 1:23 into a 1:55 minute movie. The Bone Temple appears in the trailer at 1:35. it's practically the same ratio.

I'm not at all disputing that the trailer uses ATJ or the action a lot -- it's a trailer and he's one of the most famous cast members. I'm disputing that people's trust was abused by some kind of abnormal manipulation.

that's bullshit. they just didn't want a story about terminal illness and parent-child relationships. they thought it was going to be action-horror suspense and chimped out because it didn't deliver on what THEY thought a zombie movie IS.

maybe you could make a trailer focusing more on Spike but then it would be worse as marketing. at least this way a few plebs might have had their tastes expanded upon by a movie they otherwise wouldn't have seen.
>>
>>217451387
Jimmina was pretty obviously getting off on what she was doing immediately before she got interrupted and Jimmy was looking forward to watching. maybe he likes the cuck chair.

>>
>>217451654

she was legit gonna enjoy skinning his dick, horror movie rules still apply i guess and the openly sexual girl dies first
>>
>>217451329
I would have been happy with this movie as well as the third one being about the Jimmy + Kelso storyline. Both of them are great and extremely entertaining characters and I don't really care for Cillian Murphy's return.

>>
>>217451733
>I don't really care for Cillian Murphy's return.

there was basically zero way to predict what either of the films were going to be like, I wouldn't assume Alex Garland is bringing Cillian back just because.

somewhere I read that the next movie might based on his original sequel idea, early versions of which were called 28 Months Later.
>>

>>
>>217451773

>>
>>217451832
people have misunderstood that dialogue. there's two parts and they're both CRITICISMS of the liberal side.

1) Cillain talks about rebuilding your vanquished enemies, and his daughter asks "what does this have to do with post-soviet russia".

this seems to be implying that the West should have rebuilt russia after 1990 to stop it getting so putiny (which IRL happened mostly after 28DL's release). it's not about how the EU is awesome or something.

2) Cillian says is "communism, fascism, nationalism, populism, gone never to return".

this is about liberal complacency in the 90s and the idea of "the end of history". we are in a parallel universe where cillian doesn't know about populism and nationalism coming back, so his stated ideology is naive.
>>
TV series called 28 Hours Later that is a competently done end of the world drama showing some real world implications of a virus outbreak where bit by bit everything falls apart and it isnt just World War Z level zombie attacks

>>
>>217451613

>>
>>217451985
nah, it's basically a cameo.
it's more that the two most interesting characters are gone and now here's some random niglet i don't care about
>>
>>217451961
This. People keep forgetting that these characters are living in a permanent 2002 (the island community even older, they're like early 1900s larpers). The major theme of the trilogy that Garland and Boyle have talked about is the cultural decline of Britain and how people are clinging to misguided nostalgia and myths of the past to cope. That's what the whole Saville thing is about, the Jimmies don't know he's a pedo, just some friendly TV guy, their nostalgia for their childhood is not reflective of what a monster the guy really was. Jim literally doesn't know anything that has happened in the past 28 years just like Jimmy and Kelson. Spike is the only one on the entire island who knows that young women are getting bogged now kek

Just call it 28 Days
Follows different people in the 28 day period before the first film takes place

>shows engineers trying their best to keep water supply going
>a couple abroad on holiday desperate to go back home to their families
>a single father of young kids struggling without food and must decide whether to go out for supplies
>care home workers one by one stop turning up, buildings of old people who can't look after themselves or simply don't know what's going on are left unattended to die alone
>neighbours who have never talked before agree to bunker down together
>house parties and pub lock-ins that last weeks
>escalating police and martial law and citizen resistance
There's so much potential, and it is set before twitter and WhatsApp exists so characters can genuinely not always have all the latest information

>but i felt they did my boy Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal dirty in this movie. Think of the end of the first movie, the pure charisma as he saves Spike, also, how his team waits on his every word (and you feel his command is all done with charm and dark magnetism).
exactly how I feel also where did the ninja moves go? Garland/DaCosta shat the bed with this one.
my biggest issue is why a house full of wimps was still existing 28 years later? Where are the rugged survivors the jimmy gang would go up against? Jamie would mop the floor with most of them. that farmer family scene felt like it belonged in 28 Days Later, not Years.
>>
>>217450476
Movie overall in terms of story and visual style was a kino subversion of Spike’s childlike, fairytale, nightmarish perspective of the world we got in the first movie. Replacing it with a more sober outlook and filming style that reflects the new protagonist Kelson’s rational, clinical perspective was great.
>Spike has a power rangers toy
>he sees the Jimmies as a bunch of backflipping, charismatic superheroes
>revealed that Jimmy is actually a mentally ill manchild who gets by with “my uncle works at nintendo” tier bullshit to his impressionable grooming victims
>all the sequences of red tinted nightvision of spooky zombies from the first gone now that Kelson has repositioned them as just extremely sick people, they are intimidating but no longer nightmare monsters lurking in the dark

I think the third film will return to 28 Days Later’s grounded, gritty realism that was grounded in Jim’s everyman perspective.
>>
>>217453389
I think it'd be neat if Danny shoots part 3 on 35. The last few minutes of Days were shot on film to show the passage of time.
