Why dont we have good movies like MUMMY (1999) anymore?
The Mummy is an inferior adventure movie to Pirates of the Caribbean in every single way except for Rachel Weisz being way hotter than Horseface Knightley, savvy?
>it’s just hard you know, I was married had a wife who I thought loved me but she told me she didn’t anymore, took the kids, she wanted a lot of alimony too so it became just do any role for any amount of money, there’s good roles out there I’ve been offered but those take time, and I know I don’t look the way I did, my hair, it’s stress it falls out because of stress and my diet is shit, food becomes your best friend, it’s better than drugs, any time just warm it up, eating pizza cold sushi cold, whatever I’m not picky, soft drinks, Starbucks frappes McDonald’s breakfast’s all so cheap yet not filling at all and then the booze gets me bloated drinking at 12 midnight and boozing till 3 thinking of what used to be remember the bad more than the good…..thinking of what I should’ve done. This reporter guy who was really powerful groped me and told me that if I wanted to keep getting roles I had to play along I just ran. If I hit him it was career suicide, and if I didn’t I’d wash up. Better to burn out slowly than ending I guess. I got my Jameson to keep me company. No matter my weight people still love me on the set backstage but I can’t love myselfBrandan Fraser's Alimony
>>217452032Because the way movies are made is different now than in 1999. Now "the agenda" comes first, then scripts are written around literal agenda checkboxes.
>>217452032there were actually a few more adventure kino soon afterwards like knight's tale, count of monte cristo, and pirates of the caribbean
>>217452032Because we have the Whale.
>>217453358>the judge gave her more spousal and child support well above what Fraser was earning not because it's fair, but so the ex-wife "can maintain the standard of living that she had grown used to."
>>217452032Hollywood has no use for people getting hooked on a movie for 20 years. They want you to consume, forget and move to the next thing.
>>217453761Not entirely true. Old movies are a massive source income for both movie studios and actors getting royalties. In fact almost every has-been actor that didn't make Robert Downey Jr money lives off of those royalties. And movies like The Mummy are still making good money. In the long run movies that flop can still turn a profit and movies that made a profit will double that profit in home video/streaming.
perhaps there are some other questions to ask if you're dwelling on an ok adventure movie from nearly 30 years ago
>>217453671Same thing happened with Robert de Niro where he has to pay off his ex-wifes $375 grand USD credit card each month. He said himself that all she spends it on is high-end fashion, going to fancy restaurants, etc.
