I'm told Season 1 is great, and I'm downloading it right now.
Should I push through Season 2?

Obviously I'll see if I like it, I just want some advance on what to expect for time with this show and how to manage my weekend.

>Should I push through Season 2?

The North Water is pretty good. It doesn't reach the highs of The Terror, but it's more consistent.
>>
Season 2 is ass. Season 1 is excellent
>>
>>217453813
Whatever you do, do not watch season 2. Its an anthology and the second season has nothing to do with season 1 or anything related to Dan Simmon's book. Treat season 1 as the only season.
>>
>>217454046
Same advice goes for True Detective.
>>
>>217453813
Skip Season 2, and watch The North Water if you have an itch for more.
>>
>>217453813
Season 1 is based on a pretty good book by Dan Simmons, and faithful to that source material. Season 2 is a cash grab written and produced by retards and is in no way connected to the first season. You won't miss a thing if you skip it.
>>
>>217453813
season 2 isn't the same show anon
>mfw they could've done a kino anthology of instances where human exploration went wrong
>>
OP here, I understand this is a True Detective situation, I'll probably just watch the 10 episodes of S1.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!
>>
>>217454570
That probably would be too narrow, but if you broadened it to "mankind's hubris often leads to terror" and focus on strictly that it would be good tv. But instead they went the typical "racism is bad! Spooky monster feeds on racism particles" or whatever they did. Just like how Fallout was a dystopian black comedy about mankind's hubris and willingness to kill being inate got turned into typical "capitalism bad and funny 1950s stuff"
>>
>>217454689
Crozier was a huge libtard in S1 as well, and it had buttsex
>>
>>217454689
>if you broadened it to "mankind's hubris often leads to terror"
eh I think that's too broad, though actually now that you phrase it like that I would argue Chernobyl works perfectly as the "true" season 2 of the terror, cast and all.
I do think that a series focused on the misadventures of human exploration would still work very well though, there's countless examples that come to mind. Roanoke would be a fun one for instance

Buggery on naval ships is not woke shit. It's real nigga.
>>
The first half of season 1 is great, everything after the fire is absolute garbage.
>>
>>217454747
Oh, not saying don't do more misadventures, just that it would eventually be pigeonholed on a finite topic and some events in history are way too thin plot wise to make something compelling like the Franklin Expedition was written by Dan Simmons
>>
>>217454797
Doesn't make it less degenerate, plus crozier had a sly smile as he was punishing Hickey to be caned like a boy, which implies he was a pederast, which implies that the main character was a fag as well, which leads to the conclusion that this was a woke show
>>
>>217454728
You are conflating prescription with description.
>>

This is gonna be the silent hill wiki circumcision tale all over again, isn't it...

You live in a woke world, then, nigga.

fucking retard
>>

>It's not a woke show because the villain is gay
You're either a jeet or a redditor or both and you've committed the same error as this smug reply by the poster who felt immensely proud about posting it

>Should I push through Season 2?
Absolutely not, anon. It has literally nothing to dowith season 1. It is entirely different production and writing team. It was a different project that got Terror name from publisher to give it a bump.

no

Ngl the CGI Tuunbaak was horrible for a 2018 HBO tv show, idk why didn't actually show him in full force, every single one of his scenes is like cropped or he's out of frame or just hanging in the corner, even the scenes he's supposed to be an unknown source of fear, there's no scare, like those old werewolf or creature features, they leaned too hard into the whole Nu horror shit, overall 6/10 show
>>
>>217455197
Blanky was a real one
>>
the third terror series might be good. Its based on a good book.
>>
>downloading it right now
from whence?
>>
>>217454867
Dunno what you're crying about. Hickey was devious and scheming, hence that was actually properly written gay representation in fiction.

Who fapped to the whipping scene? Be honest.

I couldn't even finish ep 1 of season 2. I just noped outta that horrid DEI crap rather promptly. wit da quickness
>>
>>217455910
I still will never understand why they didn't just make him a beefed up polar bear and it's left ambiguous whether it's actually magical or whether it's just the sailors becoming delirious. Making it objectively a magical beast, let alone with THAT appearance, was such an own goal. Kino show otherwise
>>
>>217453813
Luv me boats
Luv Mr Goodsir
'ate Tuunbaq
'ate Mr Hickey
Simple as

Nah terror is straight kino, you'll want to sail the Nor'west passage by the time you finish, ignore S2.
I'm almost done with North Water, you could consider it a spiritual sequel, no supernatural elements, a little faster paced story, might be my favorite role I've ever seen Colin Farrell play.
>>
>>217454646
It’s not even a True Detective situation because that was a real anthology series that at least for a while had the same people involved and had a related topic. I don’t know what the fuck a jap internment camp in the 40s has to do with two British ships trying to discover the Northwest Passage in 1845. It doesn’t have any of the same showrunners or writers. The name is the only thing connecting them.
Shame too, would have been kino to get another season about Roanoke, a season about the Norse settlers in Vinland, or the colony in Greenland, or the lost 9th Legion in Caledonia, or a thousand other mysterious human catastrophes.
>>
>>217456888
Because then it would be pretty fucking silly when they can’t kill it. Plus the novel it’s based on has the Tuunbaq

no don't get me wrong, It should still be implied to be potentially supernatural, but I'm saying 1. it should be left ambiguous whether that's what's actually happening (and it really is tuunbaq as per the book) or it's just the sailors going nuts and 2. it's physical appearance should just be a beefed up polar bear, not the weird manbearpig temu cgi slop we got in the show.
>>
>>217453813
season 2 has virtually nothing to do with season 1.
