it was just kind of dull.
it just wasn't very good. the first film wasn't much either, but Wrath of Khan was so fucking good that everything was gonna look rough after that. Even Voyage Home hasn't aged well.

Production values weren't up to snuff, not ILM.It does have a couple of good things going for it though, "What does God need with a starship?" and the "I need my pain!" scene. Not saying it's bad, but saying the other movies are bad in comparison is retarded. The Motion Picture is fucking amazing, pure psycadellic last gasp of 60s/70s sci-fi psycadellia, incredible handmade SFX, cool concepts, character and theme interwoven masterfully into the story. Voyage Home is just fun fan service, which I'd normally hate but they'd earned it by then. I understand having Wrath of Khan as your favorite and honestly you are right about Final Frontier being weak comparitively, but the first movie is a masterpiece and I urge you to give it another chance.TNG era movies are all ass though, no doubting that.
