It's been two decades since I first saw this kino as a wee lad, and I still can't decide whether or not the ending works.
It works as a really good signal for knowing early on that Fincher is a fucking hack. Luckily they planned his impromptu suicide in advance that way you know the resolution is as meaningful as the movie.
>>217456969The ending is a copout but it has to be. This movie is an in-joke about how jews treat their goyim friends.
>>217456969I just lost
>>217456969It doesn't work but only because Fincher directed it like total shit. The Douglas character barely reacts to the fact that it actually was a game the whole time, it has no impact despite being the title of the movie. Would've been much more interesting if it was like an anti-Christmas Carol where he doesn't learn his lesson at the end because of how insane the game was
>>217456969I fucking hate this movie after studying screenwriting because it's too "by the numbers" once you analyze the overall structure.... You can easily tell when this happens in several situations.
The ending not only depends on Nicholas jumping off that side of the building, but falling perfectly through the breakaway glass while avoiding the metal support beams.
I saw this on cable without previous knowledge and it was movie magic. It really felt like I was spellbound by yhe movie. 10/10, despite the obvious plot holes.

Fincher is a moron try-hard. Most of his films are boring waste and yes, this movie’s ending was catastrophically bad.
