It's so fucking funny that after just one attempt of recolonizing great britain, the world just went "yeah no, fuck em lol"
>>
>>217466419
also how the fuck did Ireland get infected?
>>
such a retarded premise
>>
>>217466419
>the french managed to get their infection under control in a few days
>"Great" Britain just keeled over
kek
>>
>>217466464
Probably some jackass in a boat
>>
>>217466464
They wanted it so they could complain about being oppressed by the British.
>>
>>217466419
>One million percent about Covid and Brexit
>"It's not about Covid or Brexit."
Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrright.
>>
>>217466419
What's funnier is that the director didn't like the sequel to 28 days and considered it non-canon for years only for it to be canon in the threequel anyways
>>
>>217466419
>England cut off from the whole word
sounds like a dream come true
>>
>>217466626
>It's not about Covid or Brexit.
when did the director say that? IIrc in the "making of" of the first movie he cites both of them
>>
>>217466599
could a boat make it considering that the rage virus kicks off in like 3 to 4 seconds?
>>
>>217466419
>even making an effort to go to Great Britain

Outrageously unrealistic and immersion breaking movie plot points thread?
>>
>>217466419
>no fly zone
What, do the zombies shoot planes down or something?
>>
>>217466722
They don't want people landing then taking off again.
Much easier logistically to just say "don't fucking go here."
>>
>>217466419
>fuck em lol
Thing is there isn't really an "em" left in Britain, as far as the outside world knows. It's thought to be overrun with infected, and any non-infected are negligible to the point that they're not worth trying to rescue
>>
>you will never have a thic alpha zombie bf

Whatsthat
>>
>>217466644
I've only seen 28 weeks once what was the callback?
>>
>>217466464
Northen Ireland
>>
>>217466419
I mean, honestly, wouldn't satellites tell them where 99% of survivors are, and then they could just use drones and airstrikes to slowly eliminate all of the zombies over the course of, say, five years, with zero human risk outside of Britain? It wouldn't even be that expensive for the UN or US to do this.
>>
>>217466626
28 days later was released before both but idk about the new ones
>>
>>217466722
I assume it's because criminal elements from the outside would try and loot valuable shit from the islands (gold, gems etc.) which bears the risk of the virus getting off the island. Same reason the sea patrols are there, no one gets on or off the island. Like Erik said no one get's rescued, getting stranded is basically a death sentence
>>
>>217466419
doesn't really make sense. Ireland is 9 times less populated than Britain and the only way there is by boat unlike Britain's tunnel to France. How did the Isle of Man and Scottish Isles get infected too? France would get fucked before all of these.
>>
>>217466826
>everyone we must evacuate England to Ireland get on the boat!
>one single infected gets on
>>
>>217466671
It could drift.
Or some guy has this loved one locked in the hold. You know how retarded people are.
>>
That little island community is living a much more fulfilling life than anybody else in that world
>>
>>217466826
They swim now
>>
>>217466805
I'm pretty sure you would need to glass most of the island for this to be effective and after that there wouldn't be much of a liveable britain left. Can't get the survivors off the islands neither because asymptomatic carriers are a thing
>>
>>217466813
okay but why dont they just nuke/firebomb the entire place to the ground then? leaving such a virus existing just seems too dangerous, at one point someone will sneak it out of the island and it starts all over again
>>
>>217466857
yeah, true
>>
>>217466771
Unironically, why not nuke it to hell and back? Wouldn't literally everybody be scared shitless of the virus still managing to get carried back to mainland EU somehow or it mutating?
>>
>>217466788
Opening text says the infection was driven back from mainland Europe, meaning you can ignore the ending where they reached France.
They also included shots from the 28 Weeks snipers scene in a montage showing what different types of warfare can look like.
>>
>>217466892
thats what the blockade is for
>>
>>217466881
>okay but why dont they just nuke/firebomb the entire place to the ground then?
too expensive, with too little of a return
>at one point someone will sneak it out of the island and it starts all over again
happened once already and the french seemingly got it under control just fine. Also I'm sure any plane or boat that tries to leave the isolation zone just gets obliterated by NATO
>>
>>217466892
People might be terrified of using more nukes, since they were deployed to stop the infected from spreading through France and beyond.
Using dozens or hundreds of nukes to sterilize the entire UK would be an environmental disaster for the rest of the world
>>
>>217466892
that's what the sea patrols and the no fly zone are for
>you enter the isolation zone nobody will come for you
>you try to leave the isolation zone you will get blown to kingdom come
>>
>>217466892
I wonder how many massive nukes it would take to actually make the infected go extinct in the entirety of England
>>
>>217466957
All it takes is one slip up and that blockade has failed. Total annihilation of Bongland is the answer in this scenario.
>>
brexit means brexit
>>
>>217466419
>the world just went "yeah no, fuck em lol"
I mean yeah, because the "virus" is literally voodoo magic-tier. Just consider that entire area like exclusion zone from STALKER except there's no cool artifacts to even go there for, just a magical incurable virus that kills you instantly.
>>
>>217466419
How did they predict covid so accurately?
>>
>>217467370
It doesn't kill you, just rewires your brain to feel constant rage. Also it seems to be curable according to the latest movie
>>
>>217467525
Rewires your brain in seconds, faster than anything could conceivably travel through your circulatory system. So it's still magical in that sense, though it's also a good thing for narrative reasons, removing tedious drama seen in a lot of other zombie fiction
>>
>>217466419
bro do you try to pet a rabid dog twice?
>>
>>217466464
It didnt. They just said fuck the irish and closed them off too because fuck the Irish
>>
>>217466419
Do birds fly between Britain and France?
>>
>>217467239
many thousands, probably more than there are in current arsenals. nukes arent designed to kill people specifically (thats just collateral damage)
they are intended for airbursts to delay enemy troop movements and destroy military infrastructure/industry

even dropping dozens on London won't kill all infected hiding in sewers or subway lines.
>>
>>217467725
>Rewires your brain in seconds, faster than anything could conceivably travel through your circulatory system. So it's still magical in that sense
Don't forget being able to run and jump around like mad without gassing out or passing out, puking blood (somehow) constantly without dehydrating, being seemingly immune to exposure, infection by other viruses/bacteria/parasites etc. Yes, at the end of the first movie they show the infected dying out due starvation or whatever, but realistically, they all should have died in the first few days with behaviour like that.

It would have been more spooky to make the virus actually magical/unearthly and have characters/people reference that and be confused/terrified by it even more instead of it just being a flimsy excuse for fast zombies. Then again, that's the problem with all zombie movies where zombies aren't explicitly magical (revived by a Necromancer etc.) so whatever.
>>
>>217467857
Yeah, but I don't think birds are affected by the virus, iirc there is a scene where a crow eats like the eye of a dead infected and is totally fine afterwards
>>
>>217467777

>oh no, the consequences of my actions

>>217467940
I get the impression that a large % of infected are indeed killed by things like the factors you describe. Like when he enters the church in 28 Days and it's full of dead bodies with just a handful of living infected among them
>>
you can sail here from england in about 2 hours, I imagine a bunch of ferries and boats came over and some of them had infected on them
>>
>>217467966
They might not be affected by it but they're still potential carriers
>>
>>217466644
Boyle and Garland have never spoken negatively about Weeks. This is the only place I see this posted.
>>
>>217467525
Kelson only managed to treat one of the symptoms. Samson is still infected, just not in a constant state of psychosis.

>"A good early lesson...in the difference in making something in a kind of enthusiastic, non-cynical way, in comparison to a project that is generated by a different sort of imperative, which is, 'There should be another one'."
You can interpret it as not TOO negative, but it matches a lot of audiences' feelings about the movie being made via studio mandate with too many cooks in the kitchen and little artistic vision. Too many different writers and production companies going "And wouldn't it be awesome if THIS also happened?!"
>>
>>217467922
definitely not feasible then. Despite all the impressive firepower we've developed, the world is a big place and wiping out an entire country is insanely hard
>>
>>217468184
That was more of a dig at the studio since they own the ip. Whatever sucker gets hired is a different story.
>>
>>217467777
Checked
>>
>>217468227
No no, he was butthurt specifically because the studio didn't hire HIM for the sequel handing it over to somebody else and that's it.

Yeah they literally have a Trust The Science guy in the doctor and mock religion as being for lunatics.

Even the Samson guy who looks hindu or sikh was into le science with his astronomy book on the train
>>

28 Years is the one where NATO decides to quarantine the entire country
