Someone said
>hey. let's make a totally unneeded sequel
Many such cases.
>>
jp1 -> jp3 -> world -> jp2
>>
>>217466585
It it looks that bad by the end of 3, how much worse would the picture look if we included the JW films?
>>
>>217466585
It didn't need sequels.
>>

All three have their merits. The original is obviously the best but despite how short the third movie is it has excellent pacing and tells a complete story. It also has some decent thematic messaging about communication in relationships and a handful of decent/memorable lines of dialogue. The pteranodon scene in the cage is almost up there with the RV scene from Lost World and the kitchen scene from the original.

It's a concept that doesn't lend itself to sequels. It's about a theme park with dinosaurs and they get out. How do you do that again? Jurassic World had a decent take that, what if the park was successful for years and then a dinosaur got out. Of course, that movie has to be full of plot conveniences and stupid characters or there'd be no movie.

A company that is able to make animals that look like dinosaurs would not give up. That is a power that makes money. How do you tell an adventure story around that concept, without just copying the first one? There's not a lot of stories about theme parks or zoos to borrow structure from.

Anyone who thought sequels to Spielberg movies were a good idea don't remember the sheer terribleness of the Jaws sequel trilogy (2, 3-D, and the Revenge.)
>>
>>217467500
The first three are pretty reasonably different
1: dinosaurs break out from a zoo
2: privately contracted mercenaries/poacher types capture dinosaurs for a different zoo
3: random couple tries to find their son in an abandoned dinosaur research lab island that existed to breed dinosaurs for the first zoo
>>
I prefer three over two desu

Correct. Or maybe more like
JP1 >>> JP3 >>>>>> JW >>>>>>>>> utter shit >>>>>>>> Lost World.
>>
>>217466585
Simple, the first Jurassic Park film should've been a standalone film. As usual, Hollywood's greed fucks everything up.
>>
i like jp2 more than 1.

Retard

>>217466585
Crichton only wrote the second book because he was getting assreamed on the internet by people who actually knew dinosaurs and called him out on the notion you could hatch some eggs, puppet feed the immature ones then throw them into the wild. He realized he'd fucked up and made the thrust of TLW that the dino population of Isla Nubla were juvenile delinquents unable to form stable groups because there was never a nurture stage. There was no purpose to a third book and he died shortly afterwards.
>>
>>217468141
You're gonna have to explain that take anon.
>>
>>217466585
jp2 should have been just tembo and his mercenaries trying to survive
>>
>>217466585
>What went wrong?
your pic

JP1 > JP3 > TLW >>>>>> JW trilogy
>>
>>217466585
The first one is overrated, the second one is properly rated and the third one is underrated.

>>217468539
you talk like a fag, and your shit's all retarded

FPBP. Can't have good movies without us.
>>
>>217466585
JP3 is better than The Lost World.
>>
>>217468949
he directed the second one
>>
>>217467630
The main plot is the same. It's characters go to island and something happens and then it's a mission to get off

1. Grant is offered a big sum of money to check out a dinosaur island, gets lost on it and has to get off
2. Malcolm goes to a new dinosaur island, gets lost on it and has to get off
3. Grant is offered money to go dinosasur island and gets lost on it and has to get off.

It became very formulaic. They just spiced up the angle enough that you didn't notice.

I don't get the hate fags have for The Lost World. I thought it was the pretty good aside from that one scene where Jeff Goldblum's character's 12 year old daughter dropkicks a raptor.

He wrote the 2nd book for children. He's admitted this in interviews, that he'd never considered a younger audience when writing his books, but knew a Jurassic park sequel would be read by a lot of people 18 under.

He did consider writing a 3rd book, and it's highly believed concepts and ideas for it evolved into the book Prey. Since it was a new property, he was able to shop it to any movie studio and make more money this way. Essentially, Universal burned him and made JP3 anyway, and he realized the movies don't need books or his ideas to continue.

I remember liking Jurassic Park 3 but I got food poisoning from the cinema snacks afterwards. So whenever I think of it I remember throwing up and lying in the bed the day after seeing it.

Thanks for the correction, anon
